How to protect yourself and your crew:

🧴 Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen before you leave and reapply every 2 hours — water reflects UV rays and intensifies exposure
💧 Bring more water than you think you need — heat and sun cause dehydration faster on the water
🧢 Wear a hat and UV-protective clothing for extended trips
😎 Polarized sunglasses reduce glare and protect your eyes
🌡️ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion — dizziness, nausea, heavy sweating — and get out of the sun immediately
⚓ Take a shade break mid-day if you’re out for a full day on the water

New to boating on the Chain O’ Lakes? Here are a few things every boater should know before they head out. 👇

📋 Illinois registration is required for all motorized watercraft

🏷️ A Fox Waterway Agency sticker is also required — separate from your IL registration

🚫 There are 32 no-wake zones on the Chain and Fox River — slow to 5 mph or less in these areas

🌙 Nighttime boating is limited to 25 mph max and must be appropriate for conditions

⛽ Bob’s Marina has a gas dock right next to the launch ramp for your convenience — call ahead!
