I thought it would be fun to share with everybody some of the reasons we adjust our shop hours sometimes.

Here are some of the "behind the scenes" tasks that we close for:

Yesterday, Josiah with Webster Chimney Works came in to clean our chimney. We have had Josiah come in for the last 3 years to clean things up for us prior to the heating season. Josiah is efficient, knowledgeable, and a really great guy. He keeps our chimney clear of buildup for us and helps us if anything needs replacement.

Last month, we had our oil burner guy (The WasteOil Doctor), Joe, in to clean and service the oil burner that we use to heat the shop. Every year, Joe makes sure to clean, repair, and replace anything that needs to be addressed so that during the heating season we don't run into issues with keeping the trucks warm in the bays, the shop or the office warm.

July usually brings the month of safety checks for us. Every year, we take our fire extinguishers into Pomasl Fire for inspection/testing and if need be, replacement. They are taken in 2 different rounds so that we always have the required number of extinguishers in the shop. We actually have more than we are required to have but we want to make sure that one is always accessible if the need arises.

Following our extinguishers, is our yearly inspection by our local Fire Department. The guys and gals from the fire department are inspecting all sorts of things in the shop to ensure that everything is on the up and up. They look at the electrical panels, exits signs, etc.

Twice a year, we try to plan maintenance days. This is when Will hauls tires to the disposal facility, we pull the legs out of the 2 post hoist and get them cleaned and greased, we go through the drive on hoists checking air and hydraulic lines, the tire machine, the stock room, etc.

Fall also brings the tow trucks needing their annual inspections. These inspections are required by the federal motor carrier association, as well as the WI DOT. When inspections fall due, that means we are without either the flatbed or the wrecker for a few days. When the first truck is done, we swap it with the other one. These inspections can only be done by a person meeting certain requirements through the DOT. We want to make sure the trucks are in tip top shape anytime they are on the road.

So here it is, some of the things that need to be taken care that most don't know have to happen. Our #1 goal is to take care of our customers to the very best of our ability and that truly starts with taking care of the building and what is inside of those walls.

When Will and I walk out of the building at night, our day doesn't end there. 😉

The schedule for this week is as follows:

Today, Monday, August 31st: we will be here until 5pm as usual but will not have use of our front bays after 3pm (our chimney cleaning guy will be here and needs to be able to move around freely).

Friday, September 4th: in observance of Labor Day, we will be closing at 12pm and we will remain closed until Tuesday, September 8th.

Will is not going to be available for towing after 12pm on Friday, but we do have towing coverage for emergent situations over the weekend. The gentleman that covers the trucks for us also owns his own business and has a family, so anything that is not an emergency, please leave us a message and we will get the tow lined up when we are back in the office.

Kel will be in and out of the shop over the days that we are closed. Any messages that are left will be returned on Tuesday, September 8th.

Wishing the kiddos a great 1st day back to school, and we hope everybody has a relaxing Labor Day weekend!

As promised, MidWisconsin Beverage got us a new soda machine for in front of the shop. Hopefully, this one will better serve the people that utilize the machine on a regular basis and will not have near as many issues. If you use the machine and it starts acting up, please call the number on the sticker that is in the upper corner. Since we don't own or service the machine, our hands are tied to help but our service guy is wonderful and on top of any issues that come up.

** The machine is a little light on stock right now, as they knew this machine switch-out was happening and didn't fill it this week **

We hope that this machine doesn't get pushed into and damage the building, we don't want to see it vandalized, or anything of that nature. Cameras don't lie and we have the building covered to ensure anything on the property is safe 😉

Happy Tuesday everybody! Just wanted to throw out a couple of reminders:

**School starts next week. Please be extra careful and watch for pedestrians around the shop. We have lots of families around us that walk their kiddos to and from school and traffic can be less than friendly at times.

**A reminder to parents with kiddos in school. Our shop is a SAFE location. If your kids are walking to/from school, events, friends houses, etc. and something feels off to them, please let them know they are welcome to come into the shop. We are all parents and we will help them anyway we can, whether it is calling you, calling authorities, or anything else. Somebody is around the shop by 7am everyday and we will stay as long as needed past 5pm if it means your kiddos need help.

**We know parking can become challenging sometimes. We love when customers drop their vehicles off early for us. When dropping off vehicles, please do not block any of the garage doors. Parking is available directly in front of the office (2 rows ) and on the west side of the building. When the doors are blocked, it presents a challenge when we need to get vehicles out of the shop, but more so when late night tow calls come in and we need to respond with one of the tow trucks. Also, please don't block the alley on the east side of the building, as this is how our volunteer firefighters with Rural Fire Control get to their building to access their trucks.

** We have seen too many times, and close call potential accidents, from vehicles using the front parking lot as a "cut through" to get onto Lincoln St or to turn around to catch 5th Avenue again. This is SO dangerous for pedestrians, other vehicles on the road, and Will and Ryan as they are moving vehicles in and out of the shop. Please do not use the parking lot for this purpose. We do have cameras on all sides of the buildings so if something does happen, video footage will be provided to the proper people.

** We DO NOT own or maintain the soda machine out front. If it is not working, please call the number on the sticker on the machine. The building has sustained damage in the past from the machine being pushed/tipped into it, and the machine itself has sustained damage. We know it can be frustrating when things aren't working properly, but I promise you that I am working with the gentleman that services the machine, and his higher ups to replace the machine with a newer version that will hopefully have way fewer problems.

As everybody is getting ready to get back into the swing of things with the school year, we wish you all good luck, the kids a great upcoming year, and a happy upcoming Fall season. I will be posting our Labor Day holiday schedule within the next few days.

As always, thank you for your support, we couldn't do this without all of you!

‼️‼️REMINDER POST‼️‼️

Tomorrow is the day that our youngest spreads her wings. With that being said:

We are CLOSED tomorrow, Friday, August 21st.

Towing services will NOT be available until after we get back in the area (we don't have an exact time on this, as we are going to be traveling a few hours).

Any messages that are left will be returned on Monday when we are back in the office.

As always, thank you for your support!

Happy Monday! Just giving a heads up about this week and next week.
This Friday (8/14) we will be at the shop but will NOT be scheduling or working on customer vehicles. We have a special little something planned for Abby and we also need to do maintenance on our equipment.
The following Friday (8/21) we will NOT be at the shop at all. This is the day that we move Abby off to college. Towing services will NOT be available until later that evening, after we get back from getting her settled into her dorm.
With that being said, Abby will be working her usual hours with her last day being 8/20. If you feel so inclined, pop in and wish her well, we know she would appreciate it! She will still make "guest appearances" at the shop when she is home over breaks so don't be surprised if you walk in a few months down the road and see her at the desk 🙂

Hey everybody, we hope you are all surviving this heat wave and have a cool place to hang out. It has been HOT in the shop with no A/C but the guys are troopers and hanging in there.

We just wanted everybody to know what our schedule will look like with the upcoming holiday.

This year we will be open on Friday, July 3rd, but will be CLOSED on Monday, July 6th. As of right now, I (Kel) will be out of the office on Tuesday, July 7th for sure, but there is a possibility that I will need to be out on Wednesday, July 8th also. On Thursday, July 9th, only Will and I will be here after the lunch hour.

We hope you all have an enjoyable rest of the week and upcoming weekend. Please check on family, friends, neighbors, and animals as mother nature continues to show us what summer feels.

Have a safe, enjoyable 4th of July weekend!

06/05/2026

We will be closing at 1pm today, Friday, June 5th. We will return to the office on Monday, June 8th for our normal business hours.

‼️Towing services will NOT be available over the weekend but will be available starting Monday again.

‼️Monday through Wednesday, only Will and Ryan will be at the shop. Will is goung to be pulling double-duty handling the office needs, on top of vehicle repairs. Please show the guys patience over the next few business days.

‼️Many of you know that our kiddo is off to college in the fall. We are in the early stages of planning a farewell cookout lunch for her. When we have finalized plans, we would love for our customers to join us, grab some lunch, and wish her well. We will keep you posted as we continue to plan. She has NO idea we are doing this so please don't mention it to her 😀

Have a safe and relaxing weekend!!
