Occasionally though the course of one’s career, you get to make what you deem a meaningful contribution to the industry. Lance made a beautiful trailer but they put a wall mounted slide in a very thin composite wall then hung too much on it. It would just rip free from the wall and distort the wall in the process. Sad for what was otherwise a very nice trailer. I rebuilt a little wall under the slide and added roller support. Now this trailer can live and function as intended. So happy to have been able to facilitate this for these wonderful clients of mine. Please use diligence when purchasing a coach with bonded thin walls with wall mounted slides. This is a lance, once know for good construction. The slide protrudes well inside of coach when collapsed for travel. It has deformed wall outward as seen in this video. A quick sight line down the sidewall confirms this, no tools necessary. This rear side goes into the Fenderwell area, which is weaker, causing an imbalance as well.

Once again “that rv tech” selling test tools to people demonstrating his “knowledge”. I would not trust the capacitor tester he’s demonstration, for they don’t test under load. Then he uses that data to rule the compressor must be bad, with no inspection of thermal overload. He has 330,000 followers who trust him completely. Does he have some good advice, yes. But, I find a lot of issues because ignorance on his part. He seriously needs peer review.

It’s easier for me to just correct another video. You can see in the first part of this video he’s doing the back molding on a coach. There’s a location where the sealant has totally pulled away. But, The original sealant barely touches the molding. A healthy bead needs to be applied the entire length of this black metal. The sealant barely touches it.

This video exemplifies what I’ve been saying about dumb you tube videos. In just the first seconds, he shows a roof membrane that is shot. When epdm roofs have all those small fissures like a dry creek bed, chunks will fall out soon. No sense caulking the edges. The membrane needs coating or replacement.

If your running an extension cord with your ac running, you need a 30 amp rv cord. Use the adapter at the end closest to the source of power. Cords are already running hot around here.

Some shops just force out old grease with new. Always ask if they wash bearings. It’s hard to inspect bearings if covered with grease. A good look at races will tell you bearings are done. Don’t want to reassemble these. These bearings each had one bad spot on one side of one roller bearing. They deteriorate quickly from there. These were caught just in time. You see spalling and heat discoloration on the races themselves.

If you’ve got ducted ac, you’re supposed to clean the filter once a week during the busy season. When you do, check this divider. The pic on the left shows it’s dislodged. I put it back vertical and taped it off. If cold discharge air gets into the return air, it can cause freezing up and reduced air flow. This the most common problem I run in to. To increase efficiency; keep vents closed, use exhaust fans in kitchen and bath to remove moisture laden air, limit entry door opening especially on humid days. The ac pulls humidity first, then cools.

This is a breakaway switch. It should have 2 wires and a cable. The cable should be left inserted at ALL TIMES. It’s supposed to hook to something other than hitch, like a bumper or body part, where if the whole hitch falls off, the cable still gets pulled. Probably less that 10% of people are hooking this up correctly. You can test it by pulling the cable pin out and pulling forward to see if the brakes lock. Reinsert the pin when done.
