I want to share something uplifting that occurred today. I was at a Goodyear getting my oil changed when an African American lady and her teenage son walked in to have their vehicle worked on. They then sat down in the seats across from me, and after a few minutes of silence she asked if she could talk with me about what’s going on in our country, as well as her concerns about her teenage son who is about to start driving. Without going into great detail we had a heartfelt, constructive, and positive 20 minute conversation. Even with covid amongst us, a white law enforcement officer and an African American mother and her child hugged, exchanged phone numbers, and walked away with a new sense of understanding from both perspectives and I may of even recruited a future Trooper in her son! After being really down and disappointed with our country right now, this gave me a positive light that I really needed and I’m sure it did for them as well. Thank you Natasha Greenlee for speaking up. If more people like you and I come together there is true hope for our country!
