PSA: Please try to get your insurance company to call for a tow BEFORE the plow goes by. 😆 This photo is from a call we did in 2020. We didn’t have to rent a skidsteer/bobcat… but it took 3 people quite awhile to shovel their way to this vehicle. 😮‍💨

Chugach State Park: Canyon Road Access
This park access is not maintained in winter. Although it may be solidly packed snow in the mornings, by afternoon it is deep slush. These vehicles recently discovered this the hard way...and may be stranded for the foreseeable future.

Street parking below the gate is NOT permitted. It creates a headache for park neighbors and, most importantly, would delay any emergency response to the area. We ask that visitors use alternate trailheads to park and enjoy the snow. Canyon Road has been one of many access points that's been ‘loved to death’ - and while long-term planning is in the works, the near-term solutions are few. Thank you for understanding.
