Through June 28, law enforcement are mobilizing to target pedestrian safety traffic violations. They are handing-out informative tip cards, issuing warnings and, in some cases, ticketing both drivers and pedestrians. Why? Because more than 30% of the traffic fatalities in NYS in 2016 were pedestrians.

Drivers: "SEE!" Expect pedestrians. Yield to people in crosswalks. Don't drive distracted. Be respectful of other road users.

Pedestrians: "BE SEEN!" Use crosswalks and obey signals. Be visible - especially at night. Don't text and walk. Look left, right, and left again.

Remember: Everyone is a pedestrian. See! Be Seen!
