We are heading out west in late September through November. This will be part duty to the I4WDTA as a volunteer evaluator for the 2026 TFC, and part vacation. As will be taking a month of touring AZ, NM and UT. We started planning a while back, but now its detail planning for specific days and routes. We use a variety of sources from paper maps, to guide books like FunTreks to GPS and some online help from onX Offroad and Trails Offroad (we are Master Trail Guides for both of these online sites).

This is a pure vacation trip and we may be solo for parts of it or joined by friends. Either way setting up plans A, B and C are imperative. Weather changes, roads become impassable and dispersed campsites may or may not be available. We want everything covered and laid out. some of the days will require hundreds of miles with zero access to fuel or food stops. Every detail is planned out down to the storage and cargo necessities. This is the FUN stuff for us.

Vehicle Recovery is a dangerous activity, and as with any dangerous activity, people should be trained on their recovery gear before they use it in the field. Had a trail fix today, all be it, in my driveway, but its a potential issue with air suspension. So on our way to Costco Saturday and the lower air line on the back right developed a pin hole leak. This dropped the right rear of the 110 and caused the compressor to show a "suspension overheating error". Thanks to the brain trust of amazing friends and experts (Lucky 8 LLC Ralf Sarek Salvador Hernandez Saltek Motorsports) who helped me trouble shoot the easy fix with some push air line connectors and a new air line section. Had the tire off and fixed in 15 minutes this morning. Cycled it through the 4 off-road height settings and she seems good to do. So anyone with air suspension, carry some 6mm push connectors and spare airline as a "just in case".

The off-road code calls on each of us to render aid to those in need on-trail. We believe the same is true on-road. Today when driving home from picking up some parts in Wolfeboro, NH, we came across Andrew. He had his bicycle back tire lock up on him as he was doing a big ride around the entire lake with his dad and some friends. Being as we are a rural vacation lake community, there is no "uber" out here. He was trying to flag down someone for assistance. We stopped, loaded his bike into the back and drove him about 45 minutes back to his house. We enjoyed great conversation and hopefully banked some karma points today. It doesn't cost anything to help others. Thanks for a great morning Andrew and hopefully you will be back to riding around the lake soon.
