S for sensational.
In 1963, Jaguar decided that the Mark 2 wasn’t quite enough. So they took one of Britain’s most successful sporting saloons, added a generous helping of luxury and engineering wizardry, and called it the S-Type.

The secret was underneath. Jaguar fitted the independent rear suspension from the E-Type, transforming the already excellent Mark 2 into something considerably more sophisticated. Add the silky 3.4- or 3.8-litre XK straight-six, and you had a saloon that could waft along like a gentleman’s carriage — while still having enough pace to embarrass many sports cars of the era at the traffic lights.

Jaguar is about to enter a very different era with the new Type 01, a four-door electric grand tourer designed to push the marque firmly into the luxury performance market.

Underneath that dramatic bodywork is a tri-motor electric powertrain producing more than 986 horsepower and 958 lb-ft of torque. Jaguar is targeting around 430 miles of range, making this as much a long-distance GT as it is a performance machine.
