This is a post I hate to make but we have to make, unfortunately, we are going to cancel tonightโs show. We have waited as long as we can for the weather to clear up at all, and unfortunately, it has not got any better. I hate it for the Buena Vista County Fair and the Suter family, as this is a very tough decision to make.
We have severe weather moving into the area between 6 and 9 PM, our phone call with the national weather service at 2:45 PM also detailed that there could be up to half dollar size hail and 70 mile an hour winds between 6-9 PM. Some apps are calling for up to half an inch of rain an hour.
If that was to move through, we do not have anywhere to shelter everyone here in the pit area at the racetrack. We also do not have the extra pit area outside of the infield this week as the fair is going on so we have nowhere for all the haulers to park and stage like they did a few weeks prior. We donโt have the track equipment to get everything ready in a timely manner.
Weโre in a tough spot with do we water the track or not, is it going to rain or not. Last time this happened, we got a 1/10th of an inch of rain and it took us over two hours to roll the track in. I have had so many phone calls and text today about the weather and if we are racing or not, most people wanna race but almost everybody today said the weather is looking unfavorable or the forecast is bad. When fans and drivers are thinking alike, some donโt show up because of the unfavorable weather forecast.
We have an announcer that is traveling over three hours to get here, the camera crew that has to travel 2 1/2. This is a post I am making with my gut and not my heart. I would love to get this show in, but it is not worth the risk. ๏ฟผ๏ฟผ All weather apps and TV stations are pointing towards severe weather around 6 or 7 oโclock.
