I feel thankful that I have customers who will go out of their way to help me with improving my data base. This customer came from out of state with a New Yamaha GYTR R6 cylinder head so I could test, mold and measure it. Stayed in a hotel while I worked, Thank You So Much Bro! There are not many in mortal hands at this moment, so it was cool! I will not say much at this time because I am interested in the dyno results. I will say this though, this head is what Yamaha should produce in the raw form for engine builders. It comes CNC ported. I recommend NO cnc porting as we engine builders have got "it" at this point. But in terms of the average Moto America rider it is fine. It would save me/us a lot of epoxy work on the intake ports.
The head went on the flow bench and I honestly did not know what to expect (hahaha). I have had many versions of ported and epoxied Yamaha R6 heads on my flow bench. This head did well, but not well. I had latitude with the customer and the LTM valve seat profile showed a good improvement on the head (as expected). I wish I had more time to work on the head but I often also recommend restraint in initial mods until dyno confirmed.
This head should have been on all of the the R6 engines OE. For GOD sakes Yamaha, sell this head in raw form at a lower price!!!
