DID YOU KNOW
The Gristmill Era (Early 1900s–1930s)
Long before it became a destination for campers, the property was anchored by Holman's Old Water Grist Mill. Powered by a cold stream flowing through the valley, the mill served local agricultural families living along Hunter Cove Road. After falling into disrepair for a time, a local family completely rebuilt and revived the milling operation during the 1930s. [1]
The Mid-Century Transition & Trout Hatchery
The land went through various ownership changes over the subsequent decades, at one point being bought entirely sight-unseen by an investor from Chicago. By the 1960s, the historic property shifted away from grain production and was converted into a commercial trout hatchery. The facility utilized the same cold valley spring water that previously turned the old mill wheel. [1]
Campground Establishment & Modernization (1971–Present)
The property transitioned into the outdoor hospitality sector in 1971 when it was officially built on an old county school site. [1]
Deep Valley RV Park: Operating initially under this name, the destination operated through three successive generations of owners over four decades. [1]
The Modern Campground: A forth family took over the business operations in 2013, officially rebranding the business to Deep Valley Campground. The grounds were subsequently upgraded into a 28-site full-hookup RV destination featuring rental cabin and a 72,000-gallon swimming pool. [1]
From our family to yours
We may be new here, but this land has been welcoming campers for years - and we’re proud to continue that tradition as Deep Valley’s new owners
We're a small family, Chris and Caroline Crouch, raising three kids and keeping busy with the campground. It’s a joy to share this peaceful place with others, and we hope you feel right at home during your stay.
This family became the new owners of Deep Valley Campground in 2025. Since taking over, they have worked hard to restore the campground to its natural beauty while preserving the peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere that makes Deep Valley special.
With plenty of hard work, dedication, and love for the campground, they are excited to continue improving the property and creating a place where families can swim, hike, camp, relax, and make memories for years to come.
