another museum tour today. This time Three Dog Garage in Boyertown. One of the best auto museums in the country right under our nose. Open to groups as opposed to the general public - scheduled in advance. RCM went just after the covid shut down in 2021 as I recall. This time the VSCCA scheduled a group. This museum is dedicated to American innovation, so as you might expect hot rods play a major role. Not just any hot rods.... Important ones in the history of the genera. Ford race cars also clearly a focus. Since last time an addition housing the Smith collection of early T and A Fords has been added. I labeled some photos alphabetical so they appear here in that order.

alfa group tour of the place that shall not be named. Always a delight, and something new learned each visit. Tom Tjaarda, designer of Fiat Spyder and Pantera - his dad John was involved with the Lincoln Zephyr.- who knew? Lemans Bentley - Weymann (fabric) body on those. K-3 magnette - they all originally had cable operated brakes with a bias adjuster in the cockpit....but most which were raced later on converted to juice brakes. Just a couple of the thoughts. But enjoy some photos.

spring is close to being sprung...RCM is at it already. With the forecast for being in the 50's, the ever vigilant Sonny was itching to get a roadster run. Mid week discussions with Bill popped loose a newsletter for breakfast Saturday and run to the Pagoda. Well most of us haven't dusted off our steeds as of yet, and I haven't even seen mine since mid December, but what the heck, always ready for breakfast and an outing, I gathered up my rented sedan (Altima, so at least its Italian) and led a merry chase over to Reading on some enticing back roads. Allen and Elaine, Tom Brobst, and Jack Stover joined for breakfast at the Macungie Diner, and then off to Henningsville, Long Lane, up to Price town, over to skyline drive and up to the Pagoda and views. Then down to Antitam Reservoir (still iced over) and then to Liberty Tap room just down the road in Mt Penn. Over to Douglasville to see what collectible classics had in their lot. Up to Oley, and home. Sonny enjoyed a top down day on some great roads (he can't wait to attack them in the Z4M). Bills GTV had a good time running up and down the gears, while the rented Altima gave me a comfortable quick run. The talk at breakfast was about a garage I saw for sale in Emmaus on Friday. Would be a very cool new home for RCM!

whew!!! made it through January. Wasn't easy. Winter is the time best spent poring over BAT and thinking about what cars to enjoy when the weather turns. Some ponder high end exotics. Some muscle cars. Me, it's always cars that score high on the value to fun quotient, with a preference for various themes in my automotive past. Heres a selection of what is currently on the radar. Also some fun shots Bill sent of models. I've updated the RCM calendar on the web page. usually in February we get a trip down to Simeone to see a show curated by Dave Hutchinson from Ragtops. Didn't see that on the calendar this year. Also DelVal Alfa typically has a tour through the Markel Collection in Skippack early on.... but no news of that yet either.

Had a great breakfast last week at hamfam. lots of talk about our early cars, John brought a fascinating book I'm now devouring-Forghieri on Ferrari - always a good time. This week is the auto jumble at Ag hall. got there at 8 only to learn it opened at 9! went to the farmers market - got maryann donuts and a great cup of coffee - and at 9 when I went to go in about a hundred people waiting in line in the snow..... maybe later. In the meantime I'm cleaning out my camera and have these shots from Bill from last summer at the Macungie show. Seems a good way to spend a minute or two on a snowy day.

2025 in the books. An interesting year, if not one of the best in terms of number of shows attended. Still, a good variety as the photos suggest. We miss our Glen GP festival excursions, and Radnor was skipped this year as well. Other shows stacked on top of one another and choices had to be made. End of the year brought the end of the old garage storage facility and a lot of shuffling had to occur. Thanks to all who helped out. In the meantime, lets get ready for a banner year in 26.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I know the season is over, but here at RCM the fun doesn't quit. I have numerous shots from Bill to post taken at ragtops last week. And scrolling through my phone I see wheels of time hot rod action that never got posted, so thats all to come. In the meantime, heres a tasty morsel that came up on Facebook. Lancia D-50 was F-1 car from the mid 50's that had numerous revolutionary concepts at work. Lancia went bust and the car and its development wound up in Ferrari's hands- probably not a good thing. But for a while it was a killer. Here you are behind the wheel at Laguna Seca. Enjoy the ride

horrible news this week, as the big garage housing collector cars of all types and varieties is no longer. Originally built as a state of the art auto dealership for 4 brands specially curated for Allentown's elite back around 1915 by the son of the Traylor hotel owner, later housing the Fine collection of Ray Holland, and then the collection of the King of Hershey, Charles Shalebaum, it will now be a plebeian warehouse for some company willing to pay high triple net lease rates on a long term. RIP old garage. But on a brighter note, the Ragtops put em away run today was splendid. The Alfa was so excited to be out! great run down over the mountain to Limeport, Allentown Road, upper ridge road, and then Dave's fabulous covered bridge tour. Capped off with burgers and brew at Ram's pint house in Perkasie- a fine way to close out the season. Mary's shots first, then some shots outside the shop and on the run

what a swell day we had on Sunday with the KBCC wine run. Tom Brobst did a great job planning the itinerary, the route, and even a a nice commemorative wine cork puller! We started at the former bear swamp diner in Macungie (missing the old name). backroads down to Barto, and the back up to Henningsville, and over to the winery near premise maid in Breinigsville. Wine flights were flowing, hot dogs were consumed, vintage tunes by a songster (Van Morrison, Grateful Dead, Jim Croce ) A great way to spend a fine autumn Sunday.
