Fatal Crash in the Village of Summit

On Tuesday, December 24th, 2024, at 6:41 PM, a tow truck operator was loading a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of eastbound I94 East of Sawyer Rd. As the tow operator was loading the disabled vehicle, they were struck by a blue minivan that fled the scene.

The blue minivan did not stop and continued eastbound I94 until it exited at Hwy C in an unknown direction. The 40-year-old male tow truck driver was transported to Aurora Summit and was pronounced deceased upon arrival.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone with information on this crash to come forward. Please contact the Waukesha County Communications Center at (262) 446-5070.

Eastbound I94 from Sawyer Rd to Hwy C was shut down for the investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Village of Summit Police Department, the City of Delafield Police Department, Lake County Fire Department and Western Lakes Fire Department.
