During National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, I had the privilege of joining my Hyundai Hope on Wheels family for our annual gala in Washington, D.C., marking 28 years of this extraordinary organization and more than $303 million committed to the fight against pediatric cancer.

During the evening, I was deeply honored, on behalf of my dealership Alexandria Hyundai, to be named the Hyundai Hope on Wheels National Dealer of the Year, receiving the inaugural Hyundai Hope on Wheels O’Brien/Reilly Spirit of Hope Award.

The award was named after Hyundai Hope on Wheels co-founders Tom O’Brien and my father, Don Reilly. The award recognizes the commitment of Hyundai dealers who have worked to advance the Hyundai Hope on Wheels mission in their communities and across the country.

I spoke that evening about my father. He stood beside me as my best man when I married my wife Mary 27 years ago. And as I said at the gala, all these years later, he remains my best man and the best example of the Jesuit principle “a person in service of others.”

Every member of the Hyundai Hope on Wheels family exemplifies the Jesuit principle “people in service of others” – doctors, nurses, researchers, hospital team members, Hyundai dealers, Hyundai customers, Hyundai Motor America team members, family members, and more. We are all in service to the children who have fought cancer, are fighting cancer, or will fight cancer.

To all these children, please know your Hyundai Hope on Wheels family will be with you until we live in a world free of pediatric cancer.

What a week for Hyundai Hope on Wheels in Washington, D.C.!

I was honored to continue our week in D.C. at Children’s National, joining patients, families, physicians, researchers and my Hyundai Hope on Wheels colleagues for one of our signature Handprint Ceremonies.

On behalf of Hyundai Hope on Wheels, I was honored to present a $400,000 in pediatric cancer research and program grants to two amazing doctors at Children’s National.

These back-to-back days are especially meaningful during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. They are a reminder that our collective commitment isn't limited to a single event, hospital or moment. All of us continue showing up, supporting the people engaged in this lifesaving work and investing in a future where no family has to hear the words, “your child has cancer.”

For 28 years, the handprints left by these incredible children have been the heart of Hyundai Hope on Wheels.

To the extraordinary doctors, nurses and researchers at Children’s National, thank you for everything you do. And to the children and families we met, your courage continues to inspire all of us to keep moving forward.

We are incredibly honored to announce that Alexandria Hyundai has been named the inaugural O’Brien/Reilly Spirit of Hope Award National Dealer of the Year by Hyundai Hope on Wheels! 💙

Presented during the annual Hyundai Hope on Wheels Gala in Washington, D.C., this national recognition celebrates exceptional leadership, advocacy, community engagement, and dedication to the fight against pediatric cancer.

Our President, Kevin Reilly, accepted the honor as Hyundai Hope on Wheels celebrated an extraordinary milestone — 28 years of impact and $303 million in lifetime giving toward pediatric cancer research and care.

For our entire Alexandria Hyundai family, this recognition means so much because the mission has always been bigger than selling cars. It’s about standing behind the children and families facing childhood cancer, supporting the doctors and researchers working toward better treatments, and continuing the fight for a future where every child has the chance to grow up.

We are proud to be part of this mission — and incredibly proud to represent Alexandria on the national stage.

A message from the Owner

What a meaningful way to begin Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

As Vice Chair of Hyundai Hope On Wheels, and a proud Georgetown alumn, I had the honor to present $200,000 in pediatric cancer research grants to Georgetown University Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center on behalf of Hyundai Hope On Wheels. These grants will advance the tremendous pediatric cancer research undertaken at Georgetown Lombardi.

My years at Georgetown instilled in me the Jesuit principle of being a “person for others.” That Jesuit principle has stayed with me throughout my life and is one of the reasons the mission of Hyundai Hope on Wheels is so personal to me.

All of us at Hyundai Hope on Wheels, and the hospitals we support, are in service to the children who have battled cancer, are battling cancer or will battle cancer. We won’t stop our work until we reach a 100% survival rate.

Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, researchers and Georgetown Lombardi team members for all you do to create a cancer-free world for these amazing children.

🎗️ September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

At Alexandria Hyundai, we’re proud to kick off this important month by continuing our support of Hyundai Hope On Wheels and the fight against pediatric cancer.

To begin the month, our own Kevin Reilly, Board Member of Hyundai Hope On Wheels, joined 12-year-old pediatric cancer survivor Jackson Trinh for a powerful conversation about the fight against childhood cancer, the importance of funding research, and the hope that continued progress brings to children and families everywhere.

Jackson is a reminder of exactly why this work matters. 💛

Throughout September, we’ll be sharing more about the people, research, and organizations working every day toward a future where no child has to face cancer.
