Alrighty keyboard warrior, Robert Chavez, let’s get some things straight… we surely do not appreciate being slandered publicly for something that we did not in fact do. Now IF we did do something wrong, we are well known for being honest, fair and keeping our words. Now for the 3 weeks timeline, yes we did have your bike for 3 weeks… 2 of those weeks, we were waiting for YOU to bring a tire for the bike. We don’t like to start work without having all the parts we need to prevent having parts/pieces laying all around the shop. After the wait, you said the tire fell through, and Scott began working on your bike that evening.
You also brought brake/clutch levers and mirrors, which we put one lever on and the other lever did not fit. Neither would the mirrors. You had a financial cap of $700 to complete extensive work on a bike that you bought without thoroughly going through before purchasing it. After going through it with a fine-tooth comb like you asked us to, Scott found that it needed a lot more work than the naked eye could see. We gave a new quote for the additional work with a labor discount of around $500.00 per Scott ~ our mechanic, simply to try and ease some of the financial burden.
A lot of what Scott had done already he discounted labor out of kindness. We did a 3-Hole oil change @ $295 which includes oil, filter, o-ring, overall inspection, check tire pressures to spec and clean the air filter. We replaced the clutch cable braided to match the other ones on the bike per your request – labor was 2 hours (our hourly rate here on bikes is $145) as Scott had to remove the entire exhaust to access what he needed to get to in order to complete the job correctly. I did charge a small partial charge for the 1 lever that he put on and had to remove because that was his TIME. He works hard. He had already donated a lot of time to your bike and I surely cannot allow him to work for free. The final bill came to $776.12 while most shops and gosh forbid Harley shops themselves would have charged closer to $1000-1200 for what we did without hesitation. Also, your rear drive belt was loose, too much slack, Scott corrected at no charge.
You then had to audacity to ask us to complete everything additional – lower, upper rocker arms, intake seals, breather assembly, throttle and idle cables with all gaskets, seals and O-rings, plus what we had already completed for a mere $1000.00. That would have been a huge loss of labor and parts on our end. Even IF I only charged you at cost for parts. After we went over with you the additional items that needed to be completed, you were clearly upset about our estimate and stated you would come pick up your bike.
When it comes to the missed phone calls, I would either text you back or call you back. The funny thing about being an independent shop with 1 owner (myself) and 1 mechanic (Scott) often times I am in the garage assisting him with things. Sometimes I am even working on cars/trucks. Shocking, I know. Trying to find people to work is difficult as nobody wants to get off their asses to lift a finger and make money. However, we are blessed to have another mechanic starting with us on Monday. Eitherwho, on the missed call part, I do apologize, I can be more diligent on checking the phone throughout the day.
The final point I am leading to here is - unfortunately you got a lemon. She was pretty and has cool skulls and would be a sweet bar hopper for sure. But slandering us publicly because our prices don’t fit your budget, not cool. We work hard to protect what we have built here and our future.
A HUGE shoutout and THANK YOU to all of our loyal friends and customers who shared this post and information with us. As always, we are forever grateful to your continued support and champion advocating for us through the years!
