Gone, but never forgotten. 🇺🇸
Twenty-five years ago today, our nation changed forever.
On September 11, 2001, 2,977 innocent lives were taken in a senseless act of terrorism. Families lost loved ones, communities were shattered, and countless lives were forever changed.
The impact of that day did not end when the smoke cleared. Even today, first responders, recovery workers, survivors, and others exposed to the debris continue to suffer from cancers, respiratory illnesses, and other serious health conditions connected to Ground Zero.
Today, we remember every life lost.
We especially honor the 343 FDNY firefighters, 37 Port Authority Police officers, and 23 NYPD officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. While others were running away from unimaginable danger, they ran toward it—answering the call to help complete strangers, knowing the risks they faced.
Their courage, sacrifice, and selflessness represent the very best of America.
To everyone we lost that day, and to those we have lost in the years since because of the lasting effects of September 11th: you may be gone, but you will never be forgotten.
We remember the lives. We remember the sacrifice. We remember the heroes.
Never Forget. 🇺🇸
