There's so many types of stains and other variables when it comes to trying to improve fabric surfaces; seats, carpets, and or headliners.

Deep cleaning takes time but equally as important as the cleaning is the drying of the seats or fabric surfaces. Often time seats can appear "cleaned" when wet and then once they completely dry, stains can re-appear, leaving the client upset or disappointed.

I've spoken to another detailer about this and we both agree that the dry time is so crucial in ensuring we've done everything we can to improve the current situation. An extensive deep clean of these seats during my interior detail service was completed.
The end results are a 100% dry seat, with MAJOR improvement from the original condition. 🚗

Annnnnnd, I forgot to take after pictures...again. 🤦🏾
BUT, that's okay, because I was able to do a 50/50 photo so you can see what chalky buildup does to vinyl wraps over time.

The yellow hue you are seeing is the chalky buildup on the vinyl.
Other ways you can tell the vinyl is breaking down can be :

- Loss of gloss : Shiny ➡️ Dull
- Chalky residue : White powder film forms
- Texture changes : Dry and rough feeling
- Brittle edges : Cracking or shrinking from loss of flexibility

🗣️ : "How does the vinyl wrap become chalky like this?"

- Typically from long sun exposure and not adding some form of protection *regularly. These two variables cause the vinyl to break down and release plastisizers to the surface cause the vinyl to become brittle.
- There are also more variables such as ; UV Photodegredation - Atmospheric and Chemical Contaminants - Trapped Moisture - Heat Exposure

Vastly different in the thickness compared to automotive clear-coat, polishing vinyl can be more tricky due to breaking down the vinyl so much that you burn it (like automotive paint) much quicker. It's a balance of finding products that get the job done effectively and efficiently, but also not to aggressive to where you can potentially cause damage.

💡 PRO TIP : Anytime you're working on vinyl, whether washing at-home or polishing, it's crucial you're always putting good protection on afterwards! This helps protect the vinyl with some UV inhibitors and reduces the speed at which vinyl breakdown can happen.

This Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager got dialed-in! ✨

🏍️ : Motorcycles are a tedious, and time consuming process, but they are SO fun! It's definitely something different when it comes to polishing all the components. A lot of hand polishing is also involved to ensure the instricate areas are addressed.

🗣️ : There was some oxidization on the exterior plastics. Because of this, the expectation to my client was :

"Let's at minimum improve what we can, but with the expectation that it may not be a noticeable improvement."

- The reason being is, plastics tend to have even less clearcoat to work with, and depending on how deep the oxidization sits, it could still be present after polishing. Along with that, you can potentially burn through the paint more quickly; polishing always removes microns of clearcoat to remove defects and bring gloss/shine. Not only did it get cleaned, and enhanced, but it also got protected! 🛡️

Clean. Preserve. Protect. ✨

Clean : Detailing all necessary components to remove dirt, debris, and buildup.

Preserve : Utilizing specific conditioners and processes for each substrate on the interior. For the exterior, using the least aggressive methods first, then working accordingly when necessary to continue improving the current situation.

Protect : Continuing to utilize Ceramic Coating products that brings strength to the original Coating and provide another sacrificial layer on top of what's already present.

This BMW is absolutely dialed-in! 🕶️✨
For me, it's not just detailing, it's a passion driven desire to make vehicles look incredible, and also ensure they're protected, the right way, the first time!
