Well I was going to start fabricating again full time at home M-F but I got a job offer I can’t turn down. So back to that shop grind but getting a paycheck every week now. We will see how this goes.

First time doing residential work I fabricated a bunch of steel hand rails. The biggest difference between residential and automotive is the specs have a small bit of variation allowed. Overall it was a fun project and I’ve got quite a few more to build in the future.

Getting the home shop space cleaned and organized, it’s a huge pain but has to be done. Upcoming gate project(personal)so I need the space to build 2 ea 10’x5’ gates.

It’s hard these days trying to find the time to get out there and get some work done. I’ve gotten a few things done over the last few months but nothing to write home about. Finally finishing up a work table because I despise work benches. Got my chop saw mounted, throatless shear mounted, and deciding on shelf height before I start doing anymore cutting or welding. Finally getting some storage space for those odds and ends I can never seem to find a spot for.

Finally the heat has gone away and today I had some free time to get some of MY project stuff done. Some cleaning, taking out the trash, and some cutting/grinding. Making room for my new cutting table I’m building this week.

The steel supplier isn’t open today so tomorrow I can get started on a gate project. It’s going to be 2 ea 10 ft gates. Deciding how intricate they should be. Maybe something ornate or probably just a simple gate setup. Either way it’s gotta get done to keep our dog in the yard.

Fabrication table finally arrived today, worst day of the year considering the snow. Had it come yesterday I had all day to build it but for today I just get to look at it in pieces and get it prepped for welding this week. Gotta do it fast because I’ve had several projects waiting on it.

As I’m feeling better and better post surgery I’m working on getting back to fabricating. So to kick it off I ordered a new fabrication table from weldtables.com. It hasn’t gotten here yet but I’m excited to have a precision table to build on. I know I could have built my own table but at this point it’s easier and more cost effective to purchase something and not have to engineer ever aspect of it. With that being said I won’t be buying their clamps because they are crazy expensive at 50 each so one of the first projects for the table is building clamps to use on it. Pics to come when the table gets here but for now I’m waiting for it to ship.
