How it was vs how it is now
The Red Rock air intake for the 1997 to 2001 Jeep TJ is a great fit except for one minor flaw...
That is when the Jeep is like ours and Crooked River Overland using the Motobilt high clearance fender the brackets and heat shield is too large and the intake is 4 inches too long.
What we did here is cut the intake pipe down and used a rubber boot to join the two halves together 😉 We then cut down the heat shield and angled it to the front. Made a special bracket for the end of the pipe and 🔩 bolted 🔩 it in place. ( It was beginning to rain 🌧 so pictures later on) making for a solid 💪 and propper fit. While we were at it we changed the filter to a K&N washable cone filter and finished up a proper design. Now this gives the Jeep 25 inches of water crossing capacity and raises the intake 5 inches from the factory 🏭 original 😀 A final note is that this utilizes the air conditioner bracket.
