This past weekend, the industry’s top fleet mechanics put their knowledge to the test at the National Technician Skills Competition in Pittsburgh, including their expertise on roll-up doors. Whiting National Account Manager Joe Olszta was invited to oversee that particular aspect of the competition, and he was impressed with what he saw.

Kudos to everyone who came, saw, and conquered. And thanks to the American Trucking Associations for putting on an impressive weekend.

Before hundreds of trailers roll off an assembly line, you build one. That’s when we do pilot reviews. Months before a full production run begins, we inspect the first unit and verify every specification.

Territory manager Jon Pasley was recently onsite in Jonestown, PA, for a pilot review with Staples. For years, Staples ordered standard white doors and applied a full red decal wrap over the exterior in-house. On this upcoming run, we’re delivering the doors factory-finished in Staples red, cutting out an entire step in their process.

Everything checked out. When production scales, they’ll be ready to roll.

Good times were had by all at IFDA Solutions in San Antonio this week—especially for these Whiting team members whose time was capped by victories for their favorite teams.

Keeping North American fleets on the road takes skilled technicians. Next week at the American Trucking Association’s TMC Fall Meeting in Pittsburgh, techs will compete across a series of hands-on stations—including Trailer Roll-Up Doors—in the TMC SuperTech competition.

Whiting’s National Account Manager, Joe Olszta, will serve as chairman and oversee the judges as the industry’s top fleet mechanics demonstrate their expertise in maintaining roll-up equipment. Good luck to all!
