Some old vehicles end up with very strange second lives.
In Goldfield, Nevada, there is a place called the International Car Forest of the Last Church. Old cars, buses, and trucks stand upright in the desert or sit half-buried in the ground, covered in layers of graffiti and paint.
It feels more like outdoor art than a parts yard.
There are other strange examples too.
Carhenge in Alliance, Nebraska was built from 39 old automobiles arranged like Stonehenge.
Old Car City USA in Georgia is reported to cover 34 acres with more than 4,000 classic vehicles.
The School Bus Graveyard in Alto, Georgia started from a bus-parts business and turned into a painted outdoor attraction with more than 100 buses.
Most old vehicles have a practical ending. Parts get reused. Metal gets recycled. A donor vehicle gives other cars a little more life.
Every once in a while, the vehicle becomes the attraction.
