Winterizing ag pumps? Keep this in mind!
Copp's Irrigation Recommended Essential Pump Maintenance & Prevention Guidelines

Daily:
Check oil dripper at coolest part of the day (typically first thing in the morning)
-Oil will drip faster as temps increase
At minimum, for pump sets up to 200 feet, one drip every 7 seconds
-For pump sets over 200 feet, add a drip per second per 30 feet of additional column
Check oil level in oil pot; make sure oil is clear & flowing freely and not dirty or contaminated

At first startup of season:
Grease bottom bearings on motor with pump grease especially for bottom bearings
(*regular grease can cause the bearing to overheat and burn out)
Clean oil tubing to oil pot, check for blockages and leaks or cracks
Drain & replace oil in top bearing of motor & refill oil
Make sure pump drip oil is clear & flowing freely, contains no water, and is not dirty or contaminated
Allow oil to drip for a minimum of one full oil pot of oil before starting motor so bearings are lubricated all the way down the shaft

End of season:
Make sure pipe is drained, no water trapped against a valve or anywhere it could freeze
Oil can be left in the pot; make sure lid is secured

*These are general recommendations and do not guarantee against breakage or other issues

When the world looks like this, it's a good time to check your pump house! These temperatures can quickly freeze pipes and pressure switches, so insulate pipes and set up a heat lamp or heater (which can be on a thermostatically controlled plug available at local hardware stores) in the pump house. Frozen pressure switches are common culprits for water failing to flow, and a hairdryer can quickly defrost them until you get other heat sources in place. Copp's Irrigation has pipe insulation and heavy-duty heat wraps in stock now that could save you the hassle and expense of a service call.

Call ASAP (530-299-3477) to place your order for baling twine! Domestic twine (PolyExcel) is virtually the same price as imported this year, and it comes from Utah, not on a slow boat. If you want to get pre-order pricing, call before noon Fri 10/29. Otherwise, import twine order goes in Dec 15. Specify color choice if you care; our research shows that the cows don't. 😆🐮

Want a new governor? Signatures must be sent in by March 17. Come in and sign at our office M-F 9-4, or print your own pages and get neighbors to sign! Names MUST match voter registration cards exactly (call your county's registrar to confirm if needed--middle initials, etc), and each page must have ONLY voters from one county. Print extra pages for different counties and make sure they are filled out completely and properly (discounting signatures for any little reason is how there are never enough signatures to trigger the recall). Your signature only counts once, so make sure it gets counted!

This is the official “Recall Governor Gavin Newsom” petition. This version must be printed on standard letter sized (8.5″ x 11″) paper. Each page contains space for 5 signatures. If you are unable to download and print this petition and you would like us to send you one in the mail please cl...
