To our neighbors on Slocum Street and here in Acushnet,
We've heard the concerns about our vehicles and the sidewalk, and we want to speak to them directly.
We keep coming back to one thing: a 3-year-old having to step into the road to get around our cars. That should never happen, and we're sorry it did, and sorry the day was upsetting for that family. No parent or grandparent should have to worry about their child's safety walking past our shop.
That part is on us, and we're fixing it now. We're changing how vehicles park so the sidewalk stays clear, and we're working with the Town to keep it that way.
To the family involved, and to every neighbor who spoke up: you were right to, and thank you. If you ever see one of our vehicles blocking that sidewalk, tell us directly and we'll come move it.
