We have agreed to sell a 65% stake in Castrol to Stonepeak at an enterprise value of $10 billion, following a thorough strategic review and extensive interest.

It’s the latest example of bp in action to deliver our reset strategy and means we have now completed or announced over half of our $20 billion divestment programme.

Carol Howle, interim CEO said: “The transaction allows us to realise value for our shareholders, generating significant proceeds while continuing to benefit from Castrol’s strong growth momentum.

“This marks an important milestone in the ongoing delivery of our reset strategy. We are reducing complexity, focusing the downstream on our leading integrated businesses, and accelerating delivery of our plan.”

Meg O’Neill has been appointed as bp’s next CEO, effective April next year.

Murray Auchincloss has decided to step down as CEO and will serve in an advisory role until December 2026 to ensure a smooth transition.

Carol Howle, currently bp’s EVP supply, trading & shipping, will serve as interim CEO until Meg joins in April.

bp chair, Albert Manifold said: “We are delighted to welcome Meg to the bp team. Her proven track record of driving transformation, growth, and disciplined capital allocation makes her the right leader for bp. Her relentless focus on business improvement and financial discipline gives us high confidence in her ability to shape this great company for its next phase of growth and pursue significant strategic and financial opportunities.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Murray for his many contributions to bp and for his commitment to our people and our business. We wish him every success in his next chapter.

“The Board is grateful for Carol’s willingness to serve as interim CEO. With 25 years at bp, she has a deep knowledge of the company and will ensure strategic continuity until Meg joins.”

Na bp, nos orgulhamos de apoiar o desenvolvimento de jovens estudantes! Nesta semana recebemos em nosso escritório no Rio de Janeiro um grupo de 28 jovens de 13 países, selecionados para participar do programa AFS Global STEM Changemakers, realizado pelo AFS Intercultural Programs. O programa combina aprendizado digital durante três meses a um intercâmbio cultural de quatro semanas, com bolsas financiadas pela bp, visando enriquecer os conhecimentos dos estudantes em , inovação social e habilidades (Ciência, Tecnologia, Engenharia e Matemática). Os estudantes também são estimulados a pensar em soluções para os problemas globais e criam projetos em grupo que visam solucionar alguma questão de suas comunidades.

A malaia Sanetha Simon, uma das participantes, revelou o quanto aprendeu durante o intercâmbio: “Eu aprendi muito nesta experiência no Brasil, tanto em aspectos culturais, sociais e em STEM. Definitivamente, eu vou aplicar o que aprendi aqui em meu país. O programa também me motivou a buscar estudar e trabalhar fora no futuro, acho tudo isso muito inspirador”.

Para nós da , com as competências adequadas, estes jovens serão capazes de ajudar a resolver alguns dos maiores desafios globais da atualidade. Que este seja apenas o início de uma jornada brilhante para eles!
