In 1955, there was a publicity effort involving Oxford and Cambridge students to travel from London to Singapore Land Rover Series I. The team included Antony “B.B.” Barrington Brown, Adrian Cowell, Nigel Newbery, and Tim Slessor. All the students were from Cambridge with the exception of Tim Slessor who was from Oxford. On September 1st, 1955, the team left Hyde Park in London, they were flown over to the European continent and continued from France. They traveled through France, Monaco, Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Burma, Thailand, Malaya and Singapore. They arrived in Singapore on March 6th, 1956. In 6 months and 6 days, they have traveled over 18,000 miles or about 29,000 kilometers.
In 2006, the 50th anniversary of the expedition, 5 of the surviving members did the last 350 kilometers of their journey again and the trip was a successful one.
In 2019, Land Rover organized another Journey named the Last Overland, a trip from Singapore back to London. Tim Slessor, the Oxford student that made the legendary trip 60 years ago, returned to join the “mother of all road trips”. The team consists of:

They departed from Singapore on the 25th of August, 2019. And they ended their voyage in London on 14th of December, 2019.

They went through France, Monaco, Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Burma, Thailand, Malaya and Singapore. They showed up in Singapore on March sixth, 1956. In a half year and 6 days, they have gone more than 18,000 miles or around 29,000 kilometers.
In 2006, the 50th commemoration of the endeavor, 5 of the enduring individuals did the last 350 kilometers of their journey again.
