The design captures the spectacular mood of dazzling lights and vibrancy of the night race and landmarks in the Marina area that forms part of the street circuit. Also featured on the coin are the two most recognisable icons in auto racing, namely, a F1 car at full throttle and the winning chequered flag.

The obverse of the coins bears the Singapore Arms with the year-date 2008.
