🔋 UPGRADE YOUR TOYOTA HYBRID BATTERY — NiMH TO LITHIUM-ION! 🔋

Another Toyota Noah in at JW Motoring, this time upgrading its original Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) hybrid battery cells to Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) cells.

As hybrid vehicles age, battery performance can gradually deteriorate. Instead of simply replacing ageing cells with the same technology, a properly engineered lithium-ion conversion can offer several advantages.

⚡ Benefits of upgrading to Lithium-Ion cells:
- Higher energy density — more energy storage for the same physical size
- Lighter battery pack — reduces unnecessary vehicle weight
- Better charge & discharge efficiency — able to accept and deliver energy more efficiently

Brake calipers need attention too. 🔧

Over time, heat, brake dust and contamination can affect the seals, pistons and overall movement inside the caliper. When that happens, braking may not feel as smooth or consistent as it should.

Proper caliper servicing helps keep everything moving correctly, while giving us a chance to check for wear, leakage and buildup before they become bigger issues.

🛢️ Thicker Engine Oil = Better Protection? Not Necessarily.

One of the most common things we hear in Singapore is:

“Our weather is hot, so must use thicker oil.”

That’s also why 5W-40 is commonly used across the board — even on engines that were designed by the manufacturer to run much thinner oils.

But modern engines have changed.

Today’s engines use tighter tolerances, variable-displacement oil pumps, sophisticated VVT/VANOS systems and turbochargers that depend heavily on the correct oil viscosity and flow characteristics.

Using a thicker oil may give you higher oil pressure, but higher pressure does not automatically mean better lubrication.

🔧 BRAKE CALIPER SERVICING — DON’T WAIT UNTIL IT JAMS
Your brake calipers are one of the most important components in your braking system, but they’re often overlooked during routine maintenance.

Over time, heat, moisture, brake dust and contamination can cause the caliper pistons and seals to deteriorate or become sticky. A seized or partially jammed piston may cause uneven braking, excessive heat, abnormal pad/rotor wear — and in severe cases, compromise braking performance.

At JW Motoring, proper brake caliper servicing includes inspection and cleaning of the pistons and bores, checking the seals and dust boots, replacing worn seals where required, and ensuring every piston operates smoothly before reassembly.

⚠️ Don’t wait for a piston to seize before servicing your brakes. Preventive maintenance is always preferable to repairing damage after overheating or brake failure.

🏁 BMW M3 | From Steel to Carbon Ceramic

Another performance-focused upgrade completed at JW Motoring.
This BMW M3 came equipped with an AP Racing Pro5000R brake setup, and this time the upgrade was focused on the rotating hardware — replacing the conventional steel rotors and brake pads with StopFlex Carbon Ceramic Composite rotors and matching pads.

The AP Racing calipers remain, while the StopFlex carbon ceramic setup brings another level of performance to the braking system.
