Travelled overseas to do an Ironman event over the weekend. After the race, packed up, took a flight and then back to work. There are many who did the same. Some find it interesting we are willing to go through this hassle to indulge in our sport. Yes, we just love what we do😂

Finding the balance between priorities and continue to keep up with such a hobby daily has raised concerns among some of my friends. They care enough to worry if the sport poses risk and safety with my daily training and work considering my uncle age(hitting 55)😂
It’s understandable. They have got a point and we have to learn how to adapt as we age to be active.

Can’t say there’s zero risk. Being fit doesn’t mean healthy. Fitness doesn’t equate to health. Learning from all these years you will know fitness has to be built upon health. Aging up makes you wise enough to accept you can no longer jump higher, run faster or lift heavier 😂

We managed the risk with what we can through regular medical check up, lower the intensity in our exercise, consistency in preparation for a race, recovery by eating right and sleeping well, and not treating the sport as a priority in life. A hobby remains a hobby for enjoyment.

Adopt this lifestyle if it gives you joy😂 Its not sustainable if you find yourself struggling to keep up with the routine. It will affect the health at some point. My simple approach is to moderate the activities everyday by how I feel, enjoy the journey and be grateful I can still do it even if it means much slower than what I am used to😂😊
