We rarely talk about the waves we leave behind, but think about your own experience on the water. Unless they are your own, wakes are rarely a good thing. They toss smaller boats around, stress dock owners, and erode our fragile shorelines.

But beyond the social and environmental impact, look at a wake as evidence of poor energy management. The massive waves you see behind a traditional boat contain an enormous amount of energy. That energy was paid for and consumed, only to be wasted pushing water out of the way to move forward.

Nedräkningen har börjat.

Vi har tjuvstartat lite här på Mantaray för att se till att allt är trimmat och klart. Nu väntar vi egentligen bara på att dörrarna till mässan ska öppnas, så att vi äntligen kan få lämna vintern bakom oss:)

Kom förbi vår monter för att prata bärplan, hållbar innovation eller bara för att dela längtan efter sommarens första tur. Vi finns på plats 5–8 och 12–15 mars och berättar gärna mer om hur vår teknik gör båtlivet både mjukare och tystare.

Warning: a bit more nerdy technical content ahead!
Continuing from our previous post, here is a breakdown of how our mechanical hydrofoil system maintains perfect balance.

How it works: Mechanical stability in action.
When side forces from wind, waves, or turning push the boat, reaction forces (F) occur on the struts.

Rotation:
When forces (F) apply to the struts, they rotate around axes X1 and X2.
The Skew:
Thanks to the system's unique geometry, point A moves forward and point B moves backward.
Stabilization:
This skewing causes the hydrofoil to steer against the pressure, zeroing out side forces and keeping the boat stabilized.

By using these natural reaction forces, the Mantaray M25 stays level and steady without the need for computers or advanced sensors, which greatly improves reliability in harsh conditions.

Mantaray’s hydrofoiling technology is entirely mechanical. This makes the system simpler and more reliable, but it also requires a unique and advanced design. Here, we share how our patented solution works without the need for computers or advanced sensors.�

How it works:
The Mantaray M25 hydrofoil system is built on simple, reliable mechanics consisting of two main parts:
- Main hydrofoil: Handles lateral stability and carries 90% of the boat’s weight.
- Front hydrofoil: Controls the flight height.�

The Self-Stabilizing Process:
When the boat encounters external pressure from wind, waves, or turning, the struts are exposed to reaction forces (F).
Instead of fighting these forces, the system harnesses them. The forces (F) cause the struts to rotate, which makes the main hydrofoil twist, acting similarly to the ailerons on an aircraft wing.
This mechanical twist automatically steers against the force and cancels out lateral forces. The result is a level, stable flight without the need for complex electronics.
