Hi friends! Today, we’re talking about a project that is already three years old, even though the typeface itself has only recently been released: TT Odellia. We decided to tell you more about it.

The main reason for launching an old-style serif was simple: the TypeType collection didn’t yet have a typeface of this kind. And, of course, we were incredibly excited to take on such a large and fascinating project.

So, let’s start with the basics: what exactly is an old-style serif? And if it’s called “old style,” why do we still need it today?

Meet the long-awaited TT Odellia — the first old style serif in the TypeType collection that feels anything but old-fashioned!

TT Odellia is an old-style serif with a modern design, inspired by Venetian typefaces and classical music. It doesn't just replicate classic Venetian serifs; it is a collective image in a modern interpretation.

TT Odellia was originally designed as a text font. However, thanks to its expressive design, it also works beautifully in headings. The font is suitable for projects related to music, history, and art. It can become a true workhorse for typesetting running text in fiction and literature, menu layouts, and label designs.

TT Odellia includes:

- 16 font styles: 7 upright, 7 italic, and 2 variable fonts
- 1,402 glyphs in the upright styles, 1,407 in the italics
- 20 stylistic sets
- 37 OpenType features for upright styles and 39 for italics

TypeType now employs... bees! 🐝

No, we aren't joking! We have our very own custom TypeType beehive, powered by a team of 50,000 hardworking bees! By the time the autumn harvest rolls around, they’ll have produced around 20 kg of honey. It’s all thanks to our friends at an apiary in the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains, who helped us "onboard" our tiny buzzing colleagues.
