The Wolf has landed ✈️
The Mercedes-Benz 500E stands as one of the most remarkable collaborations in automotive history — a high-performance executive sedan engineered by Mercedes-Benz but hand-built by Porsche.

In the early 1990s, Mercedes wanted to install its 5.0-liter V8 from the Mercedes-Benz 500SL into the W124 chassis. The project proved too complex for standard production, so Porsche was brought in to re-engineer the body, suspension, and assembly process. Each 500E shell was sent to Porsche’s Zuffenhausen factory, where it was widened, reinforced, fitted with the V8 drivetrain, and largely assembled by hand before returning to Mercedes for final finishing. The process was so intricate that production took nearly 18 days per car.

The result was a discreet yet formidable sports sedan producing around 326 horsepower, capable of 0–100 km/h in roughly 6 seconds. More than just a fast W124, the 500E is a true Porsche-built Mercedes — a rare blend of Stuttgart engineering from two legendary manufacturers, and today, a highly respected modern classic.
