Odeceixe is two beaches in one. Calm river on one side, Atlantic on the other.
The Ribeira de Seixe comes down the valley and pools into a shallow lagoon behind the dunes. Flat water, no waves, warmer than the ocean. A few steps of sand and you’re in the surf.
Best beach on the Costa Vicentina if you’re travelling with kids, or if you just don’t want to fight the Atlantic. Go to the river side.
Praia de Odeceixe sits on the Alentejo–Algarve border — last beach of one, first of the other. Three kilometres down from the village, paid car park at the end, boardwalk to the sand.
