Do you know this modern city classic? 🔍

Time for a quick test of your observation skills and workshop experience! In today’s graphic, we’ve hidden a car that appears extremely often on European roads (and workshop lifts). 📈

This Italian-born machine is first and foremost known for its agility, which is ideal for navigating the urban jungle, as well as a design that has been one of the cornerstones of the small city-car segment for many years. Suffice it to say that 15 years after its debut, the model we’re looking for today is still in production, albeit under a slightly different name than at the start. 😉

There’s no real surprise that it became so popular. Although the car we’re looking for today has modest dimensions, it can boast surprisingly smart use of interior space. Add proven, robust, and easy-to-repair engines, and you have a recipe for success. 👍 Even despite the occasional electrical quirks.

Putting these three frames together into one should not be much of a challenge for a true professional and automotive fan!

Do you know the answer? Let us know which car you think this is. And what do you think of it. 💬

Which of the presented options do you find the most accurate? ✅

As you all know, the cabin filter is treated somewhat negligently in many cars. That’s why, among drivers, a whole range of theories has grown up about when it should actually be replaced. So how does it look in your day-to-day practice? What intervals do you follow yourselves, or what do you most often recommend to customers visiting your workshop? 🤔

As far as our position is concerned, in principle — from an engineering and health perspective — the most optimal solution would be to replace the cabin filter every 15,000 km or twice a year. Once before the winter season, so that a clean filter can handle high humidity and prevent the windows from fogging up. And a second time before spring, to remove the contaminants trapped over winter and prepare the system for operation in the new season. 👍

However, annual service should also allow the filter to perform its task efficiently. We strongly advise against waiting for visible symptoms such as an unpleasant smell from the vents or fogging windows before replacing it. When these appear, it usually means the filter should have been replaced long ago! 🗑️

Let’s also remember that a properly functioning cabin filter means not only clean air for the driver and passengers. It also means unrestricted airflow, which is important for the correct operation of the air conditioning system. Contrary to some myths, the cabin filter therefore also affects the condition of the car itself.

What about you? What rule do you follow, or what do you recommend to customers when it comes to cabin filter replacement intervals? Share your opinions below! 👇

Back to factory-standard fitment in cars — which of these solutions would make you happiest? 😉 Classic buttons? The comeback of the handbrake lever? Or maybe velour upholstery? Or something else entirely? We’re waiting for your votes. 💬

The automotive world never stands still — it evolves before our eyes. And we’re not talking only about engine design, powertrain types, advanced safety systems, or the body styles that happen to be in fashion. Over the last several decades, cars have undergone a huge transformation in terms of what we see and what we use once we step into the cabin.

And yes, when it comes to interior equipment, there are definitely many things we said goodbye to without regret. No one is probably particularly nostalgic for crank windows or manually adjusted mirrors. 😅

But all of us also remember certain interior features from years past that we miss — and that, in our opinion, could easily make a comeback in the latest models.

So what do you miss most? Which solution — once common and well known in cars — should, in your opinion, come back because it was functional, intuitive, or simply cool? 👍 Which of these elements, if added again to new cars, would make you the happiest?

Share your opinion. 😊

“After all, an air filter is just a piece of filter paper with a gasket — you can put anything in there.”
How often — whether from customers visiting your workshop or your wholesale counter — do you hear that opinion? 🤔

Well, next time someone tries to present you with that argument, we’ve got a set of solid counterpoints you can confidently use in the discussion. 👍 Specifically, 5 strong facts proving that a good automotive air filter is far from just a “rubber-framed accordion.”

Because while it may look unassuming, an air filter is a significant piece of advanced technology and engineering expertise. It’s also a key protection component for the vehicle — without it, the engine would quickly suffer serious damage.

That’s why proper filter design is absolutely fundamental. ✅ At WIX Filters, we know this well, and we make sure the filters we offer are matched to vehicle requirements and perfectly prepared for extreme loads and demanding operating conditions. That means you can be sure you’re installing proven technology in the workshop — not “just a piece of paper.” 😉

And in your opinion, what sets a good air filter apart from a product best avoided? What do you pay the most attention to? 🧐

So, when repairing which car did you experience so much stress and so many impressions that you’ll never forget that service job for the rest of your automotive career? 😮

What was the biggest challenge in your journey with car mechanics so far? A battle with a cracked cylinder head, replacing the bearings, or maybe something caught you completely outside the powertrain, yet still gave you a hard time at a totally different vehicle component? (Anyone who has spent long hours tracing a short circuit in stubborn electrics or fighting a seized brake guide pin knows exactly what we mean). 😅

Because everyone involved in car repair — whether a professional mechanic or simply working on their own vehicle — has at least one job on their record that still visits them in their sleep. 👻 A task paid for with a lot of hard work, nerves, intense problem-solving, and the constant uncertainty of “will the operation succeed?”. And it doesn’t matter whether it happened a few weeks ago or 10 years ago. It’s still engraved in memory.

Which repair affected you that way? What was the most difficult task you have faced in your automotive service career so far? 🔧 And why exactly did that job turn out to be so complex and stay with you so strongly?

Tell us. We’re waiting for your most demanding workshop stories. 🙂

We’re still scratching our heads over why replacing the cabin filter couldn’t be as straightforward in every car as it is in the Peugeot 307. 🤷‍♂️

Life would be much easier for both mechanics and drivers… 😌 Eh, all we can do is dream.
Or maybe, in your opinion, there are cars where cabin filter replacement is even simpler than in the Peugeot 307, and the new filter goes in even faster and easier? Let us know.

And if you ever find yourself on the other end of the scale and have to deal with a car where installing the cabin filter is quite a challenge, remember — we’re with you. And not just in spirit. 😉

On our YouTube channel , you’ll find plenty of video guides showing step by step how to replace the filter in many different car models. 🎬 Even in those where fitting the cabin filter is definitely not as simple as in the Peugeot 307.

So make full use of them and don’t let tricky replacements get the better of you. 💪

Have you ever had the chance to drive — or, even more interestingly, service — one of the vehicles mentioned here? ⬇️

Looking under the hood or repairing one of these cars would certainly be an interesting challenge, but also a pretty demanding one. That applies to parts availability too. ⚙️

But don’t worry. If you ever happen to get your hands on a modern French sports coupe, a Volkswagen minivan that is neither a Sharan nor a Touran, or a British marvel that looks like it has just rolled out of the 1930s, then — at least when it comes to filters — you don’t need to worry about parts for these exotics. 👍

Because at WIX Filters, we simply have them! Whether you need filters for the most popular cars you see on the road every day, or you’ve come across a true niche gem, you can count on us. Our range includes more than 6,400 products dedicated to a wide variety of passenger car models.

And if you’re looking for filters for a specific car model, you can easily check availability and the matching WIX Filters part numbers for the vehicle you’ve selected in our online catalogue. All you need to do is visit https://www.wixfilters.com. 📱 Just enter the name of the car you’re interested in, and you’ll get all the information on the availability of WIX Filters part numbers for that vehicle.

Simple? Of course it is! 😊

When you hear the word “estate car,” does the iconic Passat instantly pop into your head? At the sound of “off-roader,” do you immediately think of the Pajero, and is a city car simply a Toyota Yaris for you? 🤔

Or maybe completely different models come to mind first?

Anyone who is even slightly into motoring, or works with cars every day, has their own individual “symbol car.” A model that they instantly associate with a given vehicle segment. 🚗

As a rule, these are the most recognisable machines — the ones that defined their segment and, for many, became synonymous with cars from that category. Although, as we know, there are of course exceptions to the rule, and your workshop lifts are probably home to a full cross-section of motoring. 🔧

So what are your automotive associations? Which model comes to mind first when you read about an estate, coupé, SUV, or any other car segment, just like in the graphic?

Which car is your absolute number one and the first, automatic choice when you hear the name of a given category? We’re waiting for your picks! 👇

You unpack a new box with a spin-on oil filter and see transparent heat-shrink film on its base plate. What is this special 'protection' for?

There are many theories about this among drivers and mechanics, with many of them treating the film as a factory protective barrier against dust. It is time to debunk this myth.

Contrary to popular belief, this thin layer of plastic was not created to protect the filter from contaminants during storage. In European conditions, its presence has basically no technical justification. So where did this practice come from?

The practice of protecting the filter with film comes directly from the Asian market. Cars produced in that region very often use a specific P-type gasket that is rarely seen in Europe. This gasket requires factory application of special grease, and the role of the film is to protect that grease from drying out or collecting dirt particles. Asian engineers often use this film out of habit, even in the case of filters intended for the European market.

The absence of film on the thread of 'European' filters absolutely does not indicate a lower manufacturing standard. Looking for some additional protective function in it misses the point, for at least two reasons:

1️⃣ Professional workshop procedure requires carefully wiping the thread and the base plate before screwing on the new filter canister anyway.

2️⃣ The real technology that determines uncompromising engine protection is hidden not on the outside, but under the metal housing of the filter.

That is where, inside the filter, the precisely arranged, high-performance WIX Filters filter medium is located, together with robust anti-drainback valves, creating a design resistant to extreme pressures. Remember! No film can replace rigorous laboratory testing and solid engineering, which form the foundation of our products.

Do you even pay attention to the presence of this film element during everyday oil changes? Have you ever had to explain to a customer why one manufacturer uses such a solution and another does not? Share your experiences in the comments! 👇
