Yo, what’s up everyone!
Did you miss me!? 😁

I’ve got some great news for you guys!

Gaijin is coming back to the UK next month! 🇬🇧😁

At the moment I’m planning to be back around the 2nd or 3rd week of September and stay for approximately 1–2 months.

I’ve got one project to finish and another one starting, so I’ll definitely have plenty to keep me busy while I’m over. I can’t really stay longer than around two months as I’ve also got quite a lot going on back in Poland, but I’ll tell you guys more about that soon. 😁

BD INTAKES ARE COMING BACK TOO!! 😎

From 1st September, BD Intake systems will officially be available to order again through:

www.gaijinzgarage.co.uk

Payment options will include Klarna, PayPal, Apple Pay, Revolut and card payments.

The price stays exactly the same as it has been for years:

£350 including UK delivery
or
£350 with free fitting if collected in person

If you’re planning to get one, I’d really appreciate it if you could place your order before I leave Poland, so I can manufacture your intake here and bring it over with me to the UK.

When ordering, please let me know:

* what intake manifold you’re running
* what throttle body and size you’re running
* which colour you want

Available colours:

Black / Blue / Red / Yellow

ECU REFLASH BOOKINGS

I’m posting this early so everyone has enough time to plan ahead and, if needed, book some time off work.

Reflash appointments will be available Monday to Saturday, and evenings may also be possible.

Unfortunately Sundays won’t be available, as my tuner is not available on Sundays.

If you’re interested in getting your car reflashed while I’m in the UK, please leave a comment below with the day or days that would work best for you.

I’ll speak with my tuner beforehand and start putting a schedule together in advance, so we can try to accommodate as many people as possible.

Exact UK dates will be confirmed soon! 🇬🇧🇵🇱

See you guys soon 😁

After so many sleepless nights, she is finally coming back together.

There were days when I spent nearly 20 hours working on her. Most nights I left the garage somewhere between 3 and 5 am, and today it was after 7 am. 😅

This is the part everyone sees. What most people never see is the time, effort and attention to detail that goes into making it look this way.

I do not spend 20 hours a day on every car, but I do put a huge amount of time and care into every single one. Why? Because this is my passion. I genuinely love what I do, and I always want every project that leaves my garage to be finished to the highest standard.

Seeing an engine bay come together like this makes every late night worth it.

Just a few final bits to sort, then I am off to Poland tonight. 🇵🇱😅

Front end restoration on this 2003 Honda Accord - Project Grey Lady

This is something I have been working really hard on over the last week.

What I did:

- Whole front end stripped back to bare metal using wire wheels and an 80 grit flap discs, then treated with rust converter, epoxy primer and finished with 3 coats of Raptor.
- Did exactly the same to the crash bar and battery tray.
- Every single bolt replaced with zinc plated ones.
- Replaced the power steering cooler. It came in black, but it did not look right, so I sprayed it silver using VHT paint to match the ac condenser.
- Bought new ground wires just because I wanted everything to look fresh.
- Bought new vacuum hose clips and new radiator hose clips.
- Polished the headlights.
- Cleaned and tidied up the front end wiring harness.

Usually this type of work takes me around two weeks, but I managed to finish this one in just a week. I have literally been working day and night while also being super busy with reflashes, my Merc and a few other projects.

The photos make it look easy, but there were hours and hours of grinding, wire brushing and cleaning behind the scenes. I have lost count of how much metal dust I had in my hair, on my face and absolutely everywhere else. 😅

I always try to give every car this level of attention to detail, but I wish I had the time to do the same with my own projects 😁

So… how would you rate my work? 🙂

Brake upgrade on my 20 year old Merc.

What could possibly go wrong? Luckily nothing major… apart from receiving two left brake discs🤣

Here is what I replaced and upgraded:

• W221 S Class Brembo 4 pot calipers (cost me £80 for the pair 🫣)
• E500 Brembo brake discs, 350 mm x 32 mm
• W221 Brembo brake pads
• W221 brake hoses. I could have kept my old ones, but the ones that came with the calipers were in much better condition.
• Pagid DOT 4 brake fluid
• Front FAG wheel bearings, as mine were completely knackered.

What did I have to do to make everything fit?

Not much!

I had to redrill the mounting holes in the knuckles for the W221 caliper bolts and lightly file around 1 mm off the bolts just below the heads because they have a thicker shoulder there. I preferred removing 1 mm from the bolts rather than making the holes in the knuckles any bigger. The bolts are still more than thick enough. I have included a few photos with measurements in the post.

I also gave the calipers a quick refurb myself. The pistons were still in great condition and moved freely, so I decided to simply respray the calipers. Unfortunately the dust covers were too rusty to save, so they had to go.

The upgrade is basically from the original 312 mm setup to 350 mm Brembo 4 pot calipers with much thicker discs.

I managed to overheat the original brakes a couple of times while doing over 140 mph on the Autobahn, and they were absolutely terrible once they got hot 🫣

Luckily it turned out to be quite a straightforward swap.

Total cost:

• W221 Brembo calipers – £80.00
• Brembo discs – £143.86
• Brembo pads – £39.85
• FAG wheel bearings – £63.00
• Pagid DOT 4 brake fluid – £16.00

£279.71 all in for the 350mm brembo brake kit upgrade. I would say that is pretty hard to beat!!! 😀

Aaand another Accord CL9 K24 reflashed today 😁

This time my client drove all the way from London to me. Not sure why most of my clients are from London… is that some sign? 😁

Anyway this one went quite quick as it was completely stock.

We made 3 runs, making small corrections to the map after each one.

Ralfi made new ignition and fuel maps.
vtec lowered from 6k to 4.8k.
Rev limiter raised from 7.2k to 7.6k.
As always, throttle body lag deleted.
Tuned on higher octane fuel.

Pros?

Smoother and more consistent power throughout the rev range.
Wider usable rev range.
More torque.
Better throttle response.
Automatic gearbox feels much more responsive.
Doesnt need to kick down as often thanks to the extra mid-range torque.
More aggressive engine sound, even though its completely stock.
Rev limiter is waaay more aggressive.
Better fuel economy.

Cons?

Well… your wallet will be £250 lighter 😁

But with better fuel economy, it will pay you back… and the smile on the way home is free 😁

As you can see, this was a completely stock engine. No exhaust, no intake, nothing, and we still had to make some corrections to the map. Every engine is in a different condition, so every car needs proper mapping.

What we found in the logs was a slightly restricted catalytic converter. Nothing serious though, just slightly restricted.

If anyone wants to come for a reflash while Im still here, you still have a chance. I have to stay a little bit longer due to another project Im working on, and Im also working on something else which I will announce very soon! 😁

I am staying in the UK until the end of this weekend, so if you want your car mapped - get in touch 🙂

Trust me, you wont be disappointed 🙂

First Honda Odyssey RB3 with the stock intake manifold and BDI Intake has finally been tuned yesterday! 🔥

The results came out even better than we expected.

At first I thought it would be just as difficult to tune as Edward’s Odyssey running the BDI Intake with the RRC intake manifold.

The BDI Intake flows very differently compared to the factory intake, so the MAF calibration needed quite a bit of work. Once Ralfi started tuning and going through the logs, it became obvious that the BDI Intake was flowing a lot more air than the factory intake.

One thing that really surprised us was how much fuel had to be added through the mid range. Around vtec and towards the top end, the corrections became much smaller.

Our theory is that the stock intake manifold becomes the limiting factor at higher rpm. When we tuned Edward’s Odyssey with the BDI Intake and an RRC intake manifold, the engine required much more fuel at the top end. That makes us believe the stock intake manifold becomes the restriction at higher rpm.

It was also ridiculously hot yesterday, so the tuning conditions were far from ideal, but the results still exceeded our expectations.

On the road, the difference was obvious straight away. The low and mid range feel much stronger, throttle body lag has been completely removed and the throttle response is now instant.

The intake also sounds incredible. It has a deep, bassy tone, vtec is much more noticeable now, and with vtec lowered to 4,700 rpm and the limiter raised to 7,500 rpm, the whole car feels much more alive. The limiter hits much harder now too.

It’s simply much more fun to drive. 😁

I also got a message from the owner today saying he’s already noticed an improvement in fuel economy 😁

One thing I wanted to mention…

This intake has actually been made for quite some time.

I could have started selling it months ago, but I didn’t want to sell something that hadn’t been properly tested first.

The Accord BDI was exactly the same story. I went through nearly 30 different versions before it finally went on sale.

I’d much rather spend months testing and improving a product than release it too early just to make money…

Yesterday was finally the day.

After hours of tuning and testing, I’m finally happy enough with it to start bringing the Odyssey BDI Intake to the market. 🔥

Of course, we couldn’t finish the day without a little photoshoot. 📸

What do you think? 😁

Another K24 road tuned yesterday! 🔥

Spec:

* 4-2-1 header
* decat
* factory catback
* FN2 inlet manifold
* EP3 cams
* K20 oil pump
* K&N panel filter

Ralfi made:

* new fuel and ignition maps
* lowered vtec from 6000 RPM to 4800 RPM
* raised the rev limiter from 7200 RPM to 7800 RPM
* deleted the throttle body lag
* tuned on 99 octane fuel

We chose to leave the limiter at 7800 RPM as we believe this is the best balance between performance and reliability for a K24 running a K20 oil pump. It gives you a much wider usable powerband while still staying within what we consider a safe limit for a road car.

Of course we can set the limiter to 8000 RPM if a customer wants it, but wed rather recommend 7800 RPM. We could chase a few extra horsepower and bigger numbers, but for us engine longevity is far more important than having the highest dyno figures to show off.

Also, unfortunately we couldnt make use of the full potential of this setup because the factory catback is simply too restrictive. There is still plenty more to gain, and with a less restrictive catback this setup should make a real 240+ HP.

The difference on the road was absolutely night and day 😁

Not to mention it should be better on fuel too. ☺️

P.S. What a day! 😁 We actually planned to do the photos somewhere else, but Google Maps decided to take us into the middle of a forest instead. 😂

I definitely dont regret it though, we ended up finding a new spot and the photos turned out amazing. It actually looked even better in real life!

Also, I never expected S2000 seats to be that comfortable! I think this is the first Accord Ive ever seen with them fitted.

And thanks again for the iced frappe! 😁

Another beautiful Odyssey came in for a reflash… with a Mugen body kit! 😍

Just look at this beauty!

The owner drove all the way from Yeovil - that’s a 5-hour drive each way! I bet it was an exhausting journey, but hopefully the drive back put a big smile on his face. 😁

It was running an HKS induction kit, which had thrown the MAF calibration off. As a result, the engine was running rich, so Ralfi recalibrated the MAF, corrected the fuel and ignition maps, removed the throttle body lag, lowered vtec to 4.7k RPM and raised the rev limiter to 7.5k RPM.

It’s a completely different car now. The throttle response is instant - just press the accelerator and it pulls straight away! 🔥

It should now be much more fuel efficient too.

It also happened to be the owner’s birthday today, so I thought I’d surprise him with a little birthday discount! 😁 aand, of course, a free photoshoot! 😁

Let’s all wish him a Happy Birthday in the comments! 🎂😁

If you’ve been thinking about getting your Odyssey or Accord reflashed, I’ve got some good news!

A few slots have just become available before I leave the UK:

* Friday (10/07) – 10:00 AM
* Saturday (11/07) – late afternoon
* Tuesday (14/07) – available all day 😁

Book yourself in before they’re gone - no deposit required! 🙂

K20Z2 reflashed today 🔥

Basically stock

Tuned for 95 octane fuel

* new ignition and fuel maps
* throttle body lag deleted
* rev limiter raised to 7.2k RPM

Pros? 😁

* engine sounds more aggressive as you might hear in the video (sounds better in real not gonna lie 😁)
* better fuel economy
* much easier to overtake
* wider usable rev range
* thanks to the higher rev limiter the engine stays higher in the powerband after each gear change which improves acceleration
* more aggressive rev limiter
* smoother to drive while feeling much more aggressive at the same time

Cons?

Absolutely nothing 😎

Cost is only £250 for stock engines and the reflash will pay for itself over time thanks to the improved fuel economy 😁

Just have a look at the reviews on my page. Some of the mpg improvements are crazy! 🤯

This might not be the best video I’ve uploaded but keep in mind it was extremely hot today. Intake temperatures were around 50°C the AC was on and the road was slightly uphill. Even in those conditions it still pulls really well. 🔥

tuned by obviously Dr Fox Ralfi Garage 😎

Attention everyone! 😀

I’ve had quite a few messages about ECU reflashes, especially from new followers, so just a quick reminder that I’ll only be in the UK until the 14th/15th of July.

For now, I’m fully booked. However, if you’re genuinely interested, send me a PM with the date that would suit you. If I can squeeze you in somewhere, I’ll do my best.

I just don’t want to get messages after I’ve left UK saying, “Ah, if only I’d known you were here until the 14th…” 😁
