A Chinese-Canadian scholar has warned that the ongoing Iran war could turn into a prolonged conflict with serious global consequences. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Professor Chang said Iran is unlikely to halt military operations anytime soon, comparing it to the Russia-Ukraine War. He cautioned that extended fighting could disrupt global energy supplies and push oil prices to $200 per barrel.
Such a spike would significantly raise fuel costs worldwide, with petrol in Pakistan potentially reaching Rs 500 per liter. The resulting increase in transport and production costs could also fuel inflation and deepen the risk of a global food crisis, putting additional pressure on already fragile economies.
