The Pakistan Engineering Council is a statutory body, constituted under the PEC Act 1976 (V of 1976) amended upto 24th January 2011, to regulate the engineering profession in the country such that it shall function as key driving force for achieving rapid and sustainable growth in all national, economic and social fields. The council shall as its mission set and maintain realistic and internation

ally relevant standards of professional competence and ethics for engineers, and licence engineers, and engineering institutions to competently and professionally promote and uphold the standards.

PEC and CSE join hands in Guangzhou to advance competency-based assessment and global professional recognition of engineers.

PEC and Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE-CAST) jointly organized the Assessment Assessor Development Programme & Workshop in Guangzhou, China, marking another significant milestone in the implementation of the PECโ€“CSE Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA).

The PEC delegation was led by Engr. Muhammad Sohail Khan, Head, Corporate Affairs & Global Linkages.

The programme brought together 45 leading Chartered Professional Engineers and Senior Assessors from Chinaโ€™s leading industries and universities, providing a high-level platform for professional exchange, assessor capacity building and international benchmarking.

The joint programme focused on:

๐Ÿ”น Developing Professional Assessors in line with the IPEA Professional Competency Profile of the International Engineering Alliance (IEA);

๐Ÿ”น Benchmarking Professional Engineer Assessment against internationally recognized competency-based frameworks;

๐Ÿ”น Sharing CSEโ€™s experience in Professional Engineer registration, competency assessment and elevation to the PE title;

๐Ÿ”น Strengthening PECโ€™s assessment capacity for developing a robust, transparent and internationally aligned Professional Engineer framework; and

๐Ÿ”น Advancing professional mobility between Pakistan and China through effective implementation of the PECโ€“CSE MRA.

The Guangzhou engagement goes beyond a conventional workshop. It represents a strategic shift from mutual recognition to mutual capacity building, enabling both institutions to strengthen professional engineering standards and contribute towards the development of globally competent engineers.

Through the PECโ€“CSE partnership, Pakistan is strengthening the foundations for a competency-driven, internationally benchmarked and globally connected engineering profession.
