Davao Eagles reign victorious against the Bangsamoro Fighters in Game 1 of Basketball Elementary Boys 5x5

Despite the aggressive lead of BARMM in the first quarter, Region 11 changed the momentum as they dominated the succeeding quarters, securing their first-ever win in the Pre-National Qualifying Meet.

During the first quarter, the Bangsamoro Fighters of BARMM placed a huge gap against the Davao Eagles of Region 11, yet, through the resilience and determination of the Davao Eagles, they were able to cut down the lead in the second quarter to 28–29.

The Davao Eagles started the second half with a 1-point lead against the Bangsamoro Fighters, and as the succeeding quarters progressed, the momentum of the Davao Eagles remained unchanged when they ended the ball game with a 13-point lead, securing their first win with the final score of 65-62.

The coach of the Davao Eagles is very proud of today's game outcome, mentioning the edge of their victory.

"Teamwork and hustle yung makikita sa mga bata. Yung mga bata nagtutulungan para makuha nila ang tagumpay (Teamwork and hustle make up the team. They are all working together to attain the victory)," Coach Lirome Osiba expressed.

The Davao Eagles will continue to showcase their abilities in their next game against Region 10's Northern Mindanao Stars.

SOCCSKSARGEN Warriors winning comeback defeats Caraga Brave Warriors, scoring 58-75

The SOCCSKSARGEN Warriors dominated game three versus Caraga Brave Souls as they paved the way towards a stronger comeback after being defeated by the NorthMin Stars during the 1st match of the Women's Basketball, Secondary level.

An intense match during the start of the first quarter set ablaze the La Filipina gymnasium as Cathymer Ybañez of the CARAGA Brave Souls displayed a powerful three-point shot to tie the score of 8 against the SOCCSKSARGEN Warriors.

Even with the roller coaster scoring updates, the SOCCSKSARGEN Warriors are unbeatable, as they displayed a commanding lead to end the first and second quarters of the game.

Ahbbi Villarta, the star player of the game from the SOCCSKSARGEN Warriors, drove the team towards a dramatic turn of play as her consistent shooting enabled them to soar high despite a minor injury during the third quarter of the game.

Meanwhile, as the winning team continued to strengthen their defense for the fourth quarter match, another unexpected injury caused Ybañez, a player from the Caraga Brave Souls, to endure a painful game experience.

As the SOCCSKSARGEN warriors snatched the victory against the CARAGA Brave Souls, Coach Shan Carl Pama expressed his team's strengths that enabled them to win.

"The ingredient that has led our team to victory is teamwork and communication. Without teamwork, we wouldn't be able to win since this game is a team game. And also, communication, kasi lahat ng bagay napag-uusapan (everything is negotiable)," Coach Pama stated.

The winning team is set to face the Davao Eagles during game 6.

Region X Volleyball Girls Serve Up First-game Win against Region XI in Elementary Showdown

In the opening game of the Volleyball Girls - Elementary Level during the 2023 Pre-National Qualifying Meet (PNQM), NorthMin Stars triumphed over Davao Eagles in an exhilarating showdown at the Rotary Gym in Tagum City, Monday morning, June 5, 2023, with a scoreline of 25-19, 23-25, 25-13.

Coach Alfe J. Palac of the Northmin Stars, hailing from Northern Mindanao, expressed his overwhelming joy following his team's impressive triumph, despite the limited preparation time.

“Akong gibati karon, kay grabe akong kalipay noh. Kay syempre, 40 days mi nag training — Regional meet and then, 10 days sa Valencia bukidnon. Nasuklian dyud among pagpaningkamot. Then, ako giparemind ulit nga lahi ra dyud pag championship game, there's no tomorrow kung mapilde ta para mag pursige ang mga bata, that's it. Maong nadaug mi karon (I am feeling immense joy right now. Because, of course, we trained for 40 days during the regional meet and 10 days in Valencia, Bukidnon. Our efforts have truly paid off. To motivate the kids, I reminded them that in a championship game, you don't get another shot if you lose. It's all or nothing. And that mindset really helped us come out on top today),” said Coach Palac.

Looking ahead, Coach Palac emphasized the significance of teamwork, maintaining a positive mindset, and focusing on the game at hand. He also revealed that the team's strategy includes thorough scouting of their opponents and devising effective game plans.

“We will scout the team, and then amoa pangkuanon ilahang dula kung unsa pa gyud amoang mahatag ug makaya na mapilde namo, I mean ang three regions remaining. So, that’s why double ang among effort na mapilde namo sila ug makadaog napud mi (We will scout the team and figure out how we can outperform them, considering what we can bring to the table and what we can handle. I mean, there are still three regions left. That's why we're doubling our efforts to defeat them and come out victorious once again),” coach Palac added.

The PNQM marks a significant turning point in the process of selecting national athletes. As the tournament unfolds, the stakes are high, and the competition promises to be fierce as each team vies for the chance to represent their region in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2023.
