The American horsepower war at the Green Hell just reached a whole new level! Ford has officially dropped the hammer with the Mustang GTD Competition, smashing its previous mark by over 11 seconds to set a mind-blowing 6:40.835 lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

With factory driver Dirk Müller at the wheel, the GTD Competition obliterated Chevrolet’s 1,250-hp hybrid Corvette ZR1X (6:49.275) by over 8 full seconds, officially making it the fastest non-hybrid and fastest street-legal production-based American car to ever lap the legendary track!

The Ford Mustang GTD Competition just clocked an incredible 6:40.835 around the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

That’s about 8.4 seconds quicker than the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, which previously set a 6:49.275 lap.
