REMINDER: Do NOT remove terminals from your battery.

The ECU (Electronic Control Unit), most commonly called as computer box, controls the EFI ( Electronic Fuel Injection ) system, engine air flow and oxygen sensors, mass air flow sensors, air-fuel ratio, Anti-lock braking systems (ABS), to name a few .

When terminals are disconnected from the battery, no power goes to the ECU. A qualified mechanic has to reset the ECU .

REMINDER: How to prevent car batteries from discharging

Ensure that all doors, including trunks, are closed. Open doors mean that the dome or inside light of the car is on, which can discharge the battery of the car.

Don’t leave headlights, parking lights or hazard warning lights on. Even if you turn off your engine, these lights remain on.

Kahit stay-at-home tayo dahil sa quarantine, dapat alagaan pa din ang kotse.

Quarantine-ready ba ang auto mo?
Para maiwasan ang battery discharge, i-unplug ang dashcam!

Note: This will disable the dashcam’s surveillance function.

Even if your car’s stuck at home during this quarantine, proper maintenance is still a must, para ready bumiyahe once the lockdown is over.

Clean terminals using a mixture of one glass of warm water and 1 tablespoon of baking soda.

Using a soft brush, clean the battery cables and terminals. Rinse with water, then dry out with rag or cloth. Do not remove clamps on terminals to avoid resetting of computer box.
