This is not sailing, it’s off-season stuff. . All that pristine Coromandel bush needs a helping hand and a bit of protection from some of the pests that unfortunately ended up on the islands of New Zealand. These traps which ended up deep in the coastal forest, target these pests and go a little way to protect native birds and bush. They seem to get heavier the further up the hill they get. .

Way back then in summer when the grass wasn’t crispy white with frost in the morning and the most important job of the day was serving up icy cold drinks, not getting in firewood. Last week of NZ winter!

Sailing Skipper and Sailing Crew jobs up for grabs for 2026/27 Summer.PLEASE SHARE THIS! One of our Skippers if off and away and we need to find an amazing replacement to fill some big shoes that are being left behind. We also have a very cool crew job that's come available.

Crew Role requirements..

A crew role within Boom Sailing is quite diverse and is very guest focused.
Our boat trips accommodate small groups and are the opposite of a bus on the water stopping every 5 minutes to tell the same story the last charter guests heard. Every trip is unique and reading the crowd is critical to succeeding in this role. This is a role for someone who is a real people person that loves being on the water sailing around in the sun with chances to swim and snorkel multiple times each day.
What we are looking for in addition to being an amazing happy people person is….a kiwi who….
-is a strong competent swimmer and very comfortable in the water.
- clean and tidy, fit and forward thinking
- has a background of being on the water and around boats
- can assist with administrative and off water works including having social media, marketing and knowledge/ experience
What we can offer you…
- on the job training to upskill your sailing and all round maritime skills
- a 5 month season Nov-March
- a job that will challenge you daily
- a competitive remuneration per hour

Skipper Role requirements...

A Skipper role within Boom Sailing is much more than just jumping in the seat and driving. Our vessels can be pretty hot to handle at the best of times so a cool head, being able to think on your feet fast and adapt to changing conditions and situations is a must. It's a job for a well rounded Kiwi mariner with some miles behind you and broad skill set.
Being people focused is top priority and you must be strong and comfortable in the water.
Our Skippers and crew share all daily tasks on board and passing on your knowledge to empower your crew to grow is a big part of the job.
Operations and maintenance duties make up a part of our Skipper roles and will be tailored to the successful applicants strengths.

The Coromandel coastline is very diverse and quite spectacular when viewed from a boat up close. A slow pace under sail allows time to soak it up and turns the journey into the destination.
