Today is our last day at the workshop for 2024!
Thank you so much for all of your support and for trusting us with your vehicle repairs this year 🚗

We will be taking some time to enjoy the sunshine ☀️ and be with our families and will be back on board on Monday 6th January 2025.
We wish you all smooth motoring, and a safe and happy holiday season!! From the team at Transmission Lab 🙌

Ps. Steve, Jordan and James escaped the Christmas dress-ups this year but we couldn’t let Mike get away so easily 😂

We are very sad to hear of the passing of Jamie Lennon 💔
Jamie was the first technician to join our team and was alongside us through the early days of business ownership and covid.
He was a skilled technician, as well as an intelligent and kind person.
We are so sad for Jamie’s family and our thoughts are with them as they farewell him today.
Rest easy Jamie, we were lucky to have known you.

|| Meet the team ||

Jamie – Technician / Professional Problem Solver

Jamie is one of the smiling faces that you might see popping out from under a bonnet when you visit the workshop.

Having been born in Whangarei and growing up here, he originally pursued a career in Computer IT. After finding that his technical problem solving brain was useful when it came to mechanics, he began an apprenticeship at Honda Cars Whangarei.

After becoming fully qualified he moved to Auckland for a while, extending his knowledge by working at Newmarket Honda, Skoda, and eventually becoming Foreman at Northshore Honda.

However, home was calling and most recently Jamie had been working at Pacific Motor Group before deciding that transmissions were the next step in his journey.

Jamie has a lovely wife and daughter and they will be welcoming another baby to their family over Summer. Jamie brings a great energy to the workshop and we know that our customers will enjoy his contribution to Transmission Lab!

12/02/2023

~ Closed - Monday 13th Feb ~
Due to the cyclone and uncertainty with flooding, tide levels and power supply, we have made the decision to close the workshop today.
Stay safe, check on your friends, family and neighbours!

|| Sad News and an Opportunity ||

Our lovely Bonnie is sadly leaving us to challenge herself in a new role. We are super proud of her, but also she will leave a massive gap in our little Transmission Lab team.

Would you like to be our next Administration Manager superstar? Or do you know of someone who would be amazing in this role? Feel free to share!

Bonnie will be with us until 1st April (will she get tricked on her last day?? 🤔) so make sure you say “catch ya later” next time you’re on the phone or in the workshop 💚

ENGINE OIL
Why is it important to change your engine oil? 🤔
Your engine needs clean engine oil for performance, it runs better when the engine oil is clean and your engine parts will last longer.
Engine oil gets dirty so it is important we change up the oil and engine filter to keep our engines happy and running smoothly.
Your engine oil should be changed at least once a year (even if not doing high mileage), as engine oil degrades over time.

THINK OF IT AS A BIRTHDAY FOR YOUR ENGINE 🎂

If you think you are due an engine service feel free to call us on 09 430 2330 and we can book you in.

~ Christmas Giving ~

If you’re one of our trade customers or have had a lot of work done at Transmission Lab throughout 2021 you might be waiting to see what we are going to send you for Christmas - usually chocolates, biscuits, doughnuts or something delicious!! Well, this year they aren’t on their way I’m sorry 😬

2021 has been a hard year all round and there is a LOT of struggle in our community. Instead of spending money sending you all a treat we wanted to put it to work for others on your behalf 💗 so this is what we did today to spread some love, happiness and Christmas joy on behalf of everyone who has supported our little business this year 🥰 you made this magic happen!

We bought $300 worth of groceries from pak n save and went and filled up the Pataka Kai stalls in Raurimu Avenue and next to the shops in Otangarei (side note: the one in OT was completely empty when we arrived so if anyone else has the urge to give, it will be so appreciated in that community)

Once those were filled up we hit Kmart and filled trolleys with kids toys, cat toys and dog toys.

We delivered the childrens toys to the Salvation Army who will distribute them with their food parcels to families who are needing some help with Christmas gifts to make the day special for their children.

We delivered a huge box of cat and dog toys to the SPCA to help keep their puppies and kittens busy and entertained.

We also paid forward 10 surprise coffees at The Office Cafe in Maungatapere and 8 surprise coffees at Serenity Cafe in the Town Basin 🤩 just to give people a little Christmas joy.

We really hope you enjoy seeing how we used our Christmas gift budget to spread the kindness a little wider and further this year on your behalf.

Thank you for helping us make it happen 🎄🎁💝

Mike, Steve, Jordan, Bonnie and Amy

Ps. Would you like your chocolates back next year?? 😂

These are typically found in your smaller japanese vehicles like Mitsubishi Outlanders & ASXs and Nissan Xtrails, Dualis’ & Jukes, just to name a few.

We are back in level 3 again and yes we are open with contactless drop off and pick up!
See below for more details of our procedures at this level 💚

Level 3 Update: YES! We are open for all of your transmission and general mechanical repairs, however ...

What might seem a bit different for customers in Covid-19 Alert Level 3:
• Customers are unable to enter our premises but we are operating with contactless drop off and pick up
• We have a clearly marked drop off point in front of our workshop doors
• As we facilitate the safe transfer of your keys we will be maintaining 2m physical distancing
• Our team will be wearing face coverings for your safety and we ask our customers to kindly wear face coverings also for pick ups and drop offs
• We will be asking you some health screening questions before accepting your vehicle
• We will need to record your name, phone number and time of visit in a contact register for purposes of possible contact tracing, or you may choose to scan in using our barcode on the covid tracer app
• Your booking times for drop off and pick up will be staggered at 15 minute intervals to avoid contact with other customers
• You will see our technicians wearing gloves, as well as using disposable floor mats and disposable seat covers
• We will be wiping down all risk points within your vehicle (door handles, steering wheel, dash, gear lever etc) both before we work on your vehicle (to protect us) and before we hand it back to you (to protect you)
• Our technicians will not be able to sit in vehicles with a customer
• We cannot accept cash or allow customers to use the EFTPOS machine at this time
• We will print a copy of your invoice and leave it on the passenger seat of your vehicle
• You are able to pay your invoice by internet banking or by phone using either credit or debit card

What is still the same for customers in Covid-19 Alert Level 3:
• We are still working with your best interests at heart
• You will still get the same friendly interactions from a 2m distance as we work to provide you with excellent repair and maintenance service!
