We’re proud to stand behind Central Kaipara Whai IMB Rugby Club and everything they do for our local youth. It’s great to see grassroots rugby alive and well in the Kaipara, creating opportunities for our rangatahi both on and off the field. Keep up the awesome mahi, team!

A massive thank you to Bridgestone Tyre Centre Wellsford for backing Central Kaipara Whai IMB Rugby Club.

Not only have they generously sponsored a brand new set of uniforms for our rangatahi, they also go above and beyond behind the scenes. They support their staff to leave work early for trainings, take time off for game days, and spend countless work hours helping with all the day-to-day jobs that keep our club running.

That kind of support is priceless for a grassroots club like ours, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

If you’re after tyres or anything automotive, pop in and see the team at Bridgestone Tyre Centre Wellsford. Let them know you’re part of the CKW whānau and they’ll do their best to sort you out with the best deal.

Ngā mihi nui for everything you do for our club, our rangatahi and our community. We appreciate you! 💚

You should regularly check your tyres to make sure you have plenty of tread.

The minimum legal depth is 1.5 millimetres, but the more tread you have the better the grip and the safer you'll be.

Tread is vital to giving you grip on a wet road. The tread in your tyres moves water on the road as you drive through the water. The less tread you have, the less water the tyre can move, and the more likely you are to aquaplane (lose grip on the wet road and be unable to steer or brake).

Use a tyre tread depth checker or go to a garage and get them to check your tread depth.

You can also look for tread depth indicators in the tyre’s grooves – these usually look like little raised squares or rectangles in the groove (we’ve highlighted an example in the graphic below). The indicators are at 1.5 millimetres. It’s time to change the tyre if it’s worn to the level of the indicator.

Keep your tyres inflated at the pressure recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Tyres naturally lose a little air pressure over time so it's worth checking them monthly. Remember to check any spares as well.

This week is a great time to check your tyre tread on all your vehicle’s tyres (and any spares) before winter sets in.
