Spyder update. The Porsche Boxster is striped up and nearly ready. Still need compliance and a COF, then the booking system locked in. Looking at four hour minimum, day, and weekend hires on the Boxster and the BMW Z4.

One of our favourite routes - Remutaka Hill lookout.

Did this one on Monday as a rescheduled from Saturdays rain. Lovely folks over from OZ and wanted to make sure they got the best.

All our rides are awesome but this is awesome with a bit of extra topping 😍

Hi All

A bit of a late post as been meaning to do since Saturday!! But this is a wee behind the scenes update from me on a windy, miserable Wellington weekend. Not the best day for convertibles, so it's been a catch up on admin and development for the booking system and website.

Big news first, our Rental Service Licence for Spyder has been granted! Thanks to everyone who's been following along.

So..... the 2007 Porsche Boxster is back and in with Wrap Innovations getting its new look. The Martini stripe across the top is staying, the side stripes are coming off and we're putting Porsche down the side instead. Pictures are in the video.

I'm also working out the best way to do sat nav in the cars so you can follow a planned route and just enjoy the drive. Let me know what you'd prefer, a simple sat nav or a full media system upgrade?

Testing is coming up next. I'll have some of my Xtremex drivers take the cars out on the routes and give honest feedback, because I don't want Spyder to be just another rental. I want the whole experience to be a good one, from booking to handing the keys back.

All going well we're targeting rollout in the first week of December, so keep an eye out.

Hi All

Quick update from me and Yora the sausage dog while we're out for a walk.

So..... we've just bought ourselves a 2007 Porsche Boxster! Very cool car, low k's, and it joins the BMW Z4 we've already got for Spyder, our new convertible experience. Not supercars this time, just proper fun driver's cars with the roof down.

Still waiting on our TSL (transport service licence) to come through, hopefully by the end of November, which lines it up perfectly for December, January and February.

Hi All

So.....someone on Marketplace basically said a 10 minute ride couldn't possibly be any fun.

I get why people ask that. We are on public roads. Safety comes first. And we still cook one heck of an experience out of what we are allowed to do. Accelerate. Pops and bangs. Tunnels. Bridges. Over 5000 rides and eight and a half years of doing this.

If you really want to know what 10 minutes feels like, check the reviews. Or better, ask someone who has been. It may surprise you.

🚙💨 The first Spyder is officially in our hands!

A few shots from the drive back from Tauranga today with our BMW Z4 and we couldn’t be happier with it.

The beginning of the Spyder fleet is finally here. 🕷️

There’s still plenty happening behind the scenes before we can hand over the keys to customers.
We’re currently waiting for the final rental compliance/licensing pieces to come through, while also working through rental agreements, insurance processes and building our new booking and vehicle handover system.

The aim is to make the whole experience as paperless as possible, from booking and driver details through to agreements, vehicle condition photos and handover.

🎯 Estimated launch: beginning of December.
And… one BMW definitely isn’t enough. 😏

We’re already working on car number TWO and potentially number THREE.

So we want your opinion…

It’s official — Spyder by XtremeX is officially underway.

There’s still plenty of work to do before launch — compliance, building the booking and management systems, finalising the experiences, and of course, building the fleet.

But we’ve now taken a pretty important first step.

We’re just finalising the purchase of our first Spyder car — a BMW Z4 2.5L M Sport roadster.

The current shortlist for the rest of the fleet includes:

* Mercedes-Benz SLK200 1.8 Turbo
* Mercedes-Benz SLK200 AMG 1.8 Turbo
* Mazda MX-5 (2015 MY)

We’re aiming to be ready around late November, assuming the compliance work and supporting systems are all completed in time.

And this is where we want your input.

If there’s a roadster or convertible you think would be perfect for Spyder, drop it in the comments below. There may be something great we’ve completely missed.

Sadly, we did miss the boat on the Fiat 124 Spider this time around 😭

More updates coming as the fleet starts to take shape.
