Happy Saturday, Wellington!
Bit of a wild end to the week with 4 seasons in a day type thing.
Just when I thought I wouldn’t be needing any more firewood we get a little cold snap to keep us on our toes. First week back into the school term and things are ramping up. Make sure you have everything you need for lunch boxes so that part is sorted.

It’s about now that everyone’s looking ahead to the end of year school fairs/festivals and the Xmas break. Hard to believe we are planning that again!

With that in mind this Saturday 17th October sees Spring into Tawa Festival. All your favourite foodies will be there plus a heap of other stuff going on.

Last Sunday was a solid day. The rain came and went but it turned into a decent day. The waterfront was vibrant with a stretched-out holiday vibe.
Wellingtons cruise season isn’t far away either. It will begin on 25 October 2026. 54 Cruise Vessels are scheduled to call, with the 26/27 season set to end on April 2, 2027. Always adds some vibrancy to the city.
No doubt those that berth over the weekend will make their way around the waterfront and through the market.

Big shout out to all the markets amazing stallholders who turn up every 7 days for the city. Many have been doing it for over 20 years! Together, with them you have created a place where people connect, local businesses are supported and Wellington’s waterfront comes alive.

• Poneke Public Housing – Ellen and her team from the nationwide housing futures movement calling for more public housing to be built. They will be sharing facts and seeking petition signatures.
• The Bay Florist — One day, one stall, full of spring vibes. Kevin will be bringing buckets of tulips, market bunches cut that morning. Beside the market office.
• Mugcycle — borrow a cup and return it later!

🐾 Meet Bonnie – Our ! 🐾
Say hi to Bonnie, the cutest 4-month-old Pug you will see who is visiting with humans Hannah & Nick from Khandallah.
This is her very 1st visit! Only just allowed to be out and about in public on the ground. Welcome to the world Bonnie.
She came from a litter of 4 in Pahiatua and will shortly be travelling to Christchurch to meet a few more pugs on a family trip. That would be a cute scene.
She is Amy and Nicks first dog although they did grow up with some in their families.
They love coming to the market for their weekly produce and eggs plus Dirty Donuts, Greek Truck Souvlaki, Kuki Boy and Jennys dumplings. Maybe not all on the same day!
Bonnie is quite bossy and thinks she is bigger than reality shows. She loves chasing toes and socks at home. Bonnie is quite a foodie and cries by coffee machine until she gets her Puppuccino. After a bit of exercise and when she’s a bit tired its time to be carried, as her picture shows.
Look out for her next time you’re at the market.

Happy Saturday, Wellington!

Another week has flown by, and we’re heading into the final days of the school holidays. I hope you’ve enjoyed some sunshine, family time and a chance to recharge.
Last Sunday was a cracker at Harbourside Market! The waterfront was buzzing with familiar faces, new visitors, great food, coffee, live music and plenty of sunshine. It was a wonderful reminder of what makes our market so special.

Harbourside Market is more than a market — it’s our community.
It’s the staff and stallholders who arrive early, the volunteers who lend a hand, the musicians who bring the atmosphere, and all of you who come along week after week. Together, we create a place where people connect, local businesses thrive and Wellington’s waterfront comes alive.

🐾 Meet Potato – Our ! 🐾
Say hi to Potato, a cute 8-year-old Pomsky (Pomeranian/Husky) cross who is visiting with humans Amy & Jimmy from Ngaio.
Named after his shape as a puppy Potato is very interested in food. Meat and cheese are the go-to. (Not potatoes) Waiting here patiently for a scrap of halloumi.
Originally from a breeder in Tauranga Amy found him via Trade Me.
When visiting the market occasionally Amy's favourite is the Greek Food Truck and Jimmys is Shouk. Then if treating themselves an Espresso Rescue coffee and Dirty Donut.
Potatoes icy blue eye is from the Husky side and a fun fact is that he was quite the runner when younger. In fact, he did marathon training with Amy and completed a 4 Paws Marathon in Christchurch. 32 kms.
He loves kids and puppies but not cats so much. Gets a bit of fomo and lets you know about it with a loudish bark. Just the 1 volume apparently.
He also thinks everyone is his best friend and doesn’t read social cues well. Funny.

Happy Saturday, Wellington!
I really can’t believe how fast the weeks seem to be going at the moment! I’m sure I’m not alone and definitely not the first to say it but gees!
It’s nice having a bit more light at the end of the day though as it signifies summer is close.
I hope you’ve all had a great day doing whatever Saturday brought for you.
Last Sunday was a real struggle. Many out of towners can’t believe how we manage to operate on some of these Wellington days, but we do, and safely. Looking forward to a better forecast for tomorrow so there’s no excuse not to come down and get amongst it. There’s plenty on and all your favourite foodies will be here. The waterfront should be busy mid holidays.
If you venture along the waterfront and around the city keep an eye out for the “Bee in the City” art trail. A fundraising project supporting Life Flight.
There’s always surprises planned and unplanned here at the market. It’s always a great place to be.

🐾 Meet Rumi – Our ! 🐾
Say hi to Rumi. A 1.5 year old English Staffy from Churton Park visiting with her family Leiani, ? & Millie.
They have been enjoying the market for close on 8 years and with Rumi for over a year since rehoming her from a breeder.
Rumi tried her 1st Puppuccino from Kosmos today and it was a fav. As for her humans its all about the Jennys dumplings, Kuki Boy and Miss Korea Kimchi. Rumi is a friendly soul who loves other dogs and all people. She can get a little scared of music though. At the beach she only gets her paws wet and blows bubbles. Doesn’t venture any deeper. At home she absolutely loves her cats Ziggy and Toe Nigel Bean although this is not reciprocated. No surprise with that cat behaviour.

Happy Saturday, Wellington!
Another week has flown by. Daylight savings starts tomorrow so we have a bit more light at the end of the day.
We are heading towards Christmas fast. We had a bit of sun today but still coolish. I hope you’ve all had a great day doing whatever Saturday brought for you.
Last Sunday turned out pretty amazing after a wet start which was much appreciated. I could dry off at least. The waterfront was heaving with people out and about enjoying our city’s jewel.
Tomorrow isn’t looking that good at present. I’ve learnt to see what it brings but be prepared for showers and wind throughout the day.
If you’re walking the waterfront keep an eye out for the “Bee in the City” art trail. A fundraising project supporting Life Flight.
We’ve got most on board ready for you tomorrow, but the weather might scare a few of them away. Whether is produce, eggs, bread, honey or some Foodtruck treats, its sorted here.
There’s always plenty planned here at the market. It’s always a great place to be.

Ukrainian Stall — Our friends are back with many goodies raising funds for many humanitarian causes such as:
• Humanitarian aid shipments from New Zealand to Ukraine – including contributing towards the cost of shipping containers carrying essential supplies.
• Wheelchairs and mobility equipment – purchasing wheelchairs that were transported to Ukraine in our humanitarian aid shipments and distributed to people in need.
• Prytula Foundation – making donations to support their humanitarian and relief work in Ukraine.
• Black Tulip – supporting their work searching for and recovering the bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers.
Wellington College Volleyball Team — running the carpark again this week to help with tournament costs.
On a Roll — a youth-for-youth movement focused on empowering young people to enrol and participate in the democratic process.

🐾 Meet Chia – Our ! 🐾
Say hi to Chia. A 7.5-month-old Griffon/Chihuahua cross all the way from Oriental Bay.
She is visiting with her humans Jess and Indie. They would love to visit most Sundays but often Sunday kids’ sports makes that tricky.
Chia is originally from Kaitaia and joined the family almost 6 months ago. She is Jess’s 2nd dog. Her 1st was a Griffon so is obviously a breed she likes.
Chia is a bold and confident girl who loves running up walls and jumping over small fences. Chewing furniture is also a trick of hers.
Often described as “Velcro dogs” because they love cuddles and affection.
Apparently, Griffons are a clown breed whereas Chihuahua bring the feistiness.
Jess loves the market for hanging out and enjoying a treat of Fritz’s Wieners and Indie always goes a smashed Avocado. They both also love Montfoorts Dutch Pancakes.
Indie and Chia share birthdays which is sweet.
