Do current fuel prices mean this is the best time to buy an EV?. The power prices quoted in this article can be halved by moving to an EV day night plan. So you will be looking at 15c/kWh instead of the quoted 35c/kWh. The cost to drive 10,000km would actually be $179 instead of the quoted $415.

With fuel now over the $3 per litre mark, is now the best time to go electric?

We're quite keen to replace our SUV at some point over the next 4 years. I was originally thinking maybe the VW ID.4 or the Skoda Enyak, but the updated MG5 EV is looking rather nice.

The 2022 MG5 features a fresher design and upgraded interior. It is scheduled to go on sale in Europe in the first quarter of 2022 in European markets.

During the school run this afternoon, as I was stuck behind two Nissan Leafs in a queue of traffic, I realised one of the main benefits of the uptake of Electric Vehicles. I can have my air con running without sucking in smokey diesel and petrol fumes from the car in front.

Good news for EV drivers.

The government is extending the Road User Charge exemption for light electric vehicles until March 2024 to encourage uptake.

Below are the EV registrations for June which are slightly down compared to May. The attached chart shows EV registrations YTD. Note a sligh increase in registrations around March 2021, this was mirrored across the vehicle sector and wasn't unique to EVs. The Tesla made up 55% of EV registrations in June.

Human civilisation has been using cobalt for thousands of years, in pottery, our smartphones, power tools and rechargeable AA batteries, but the use of cobalt in electric vehicles has really brought the element into the media limelight, mainly for it's reputation in child labour. This programme goes some way to explaining cobalt, where it comes from, how we use it, and whether we will continue to use it in future.
