The T-Rex Cadillac Has Arrived! 🦖

One of the most talked-about Cadillacs in New Zealand is now in our workshop!

Some of you may already know the story behind this incredible 1959 Cadillac, famously known as “T-Rex.” The epic search for the car — “The Hunt for T-Rex” — was featured throughout the January–December 2023 issues of NZV8 Magazine.

The owner, Dave (aka Cadillac Dave), is also featured in a two-part story in the latest NZV8 magazine.

We’re excited to now have this absolute beast in the shop where we’ll be:
🔧 Completing the body repairs
🎨 Carrying out a full respray
✨ Bringing this legendary Cadillac back to its full glory

This is a special project and we’ll be sharing regular progress updates, photos, and behind-the-scenes work as we move through the restoration.

Here is a Manual V8 BMW M3 that was brought in for a respray fairly recently owned by a good friend of the shop, restored to its original factory color but with a diamond white pearl finish applied on top, giving it an extra visual appeal for sunny days. We enjoyed working on this one something a little different :)

65 Mustang a untouched gem you don't get many original ones like this any more with the original manual 6 cylinder engine in for a full respray factory color. Pretty much most of the panel and paint done by Carl Heydon well done mate we are stoked with this one :)

Here we have a 65 Dodge Coronet in for just a little spruce up respray and minor rust repairs painted in the original color again very cool classic car we loved having the opportunity to do this one :) from the team at miro's

Here we go again another one accomplished by our Miro team we converted this rusty old 65 SS Impala that had been sitting for years into a stunning head turner big team effort in getting the repairs done and many hours block sanding and getting the body straight for paint. Painted in a Cherry Black candy base Coat by Kurt. We are really happy with how it turned out hopefully we get to see it out and about on the street 😁

A young lady enquired about re-painting her badly peeling green Hyundai Getz PINK!
The factory wheels got the treatment as well.
This is the result & of course one very happy customer !

Colour is cosmopolitan/Hot pink pearl (toyota)

Check this out!
Our job was to replace a rust left sill on this 56 Ford country Sedan .
Once we started cutting into it we realised why the sill had rusted, it was full of all types of nuts!!
Obviously squirrels had made their way into the sill to store nuts in the years prior to the car arriving on NZ shores.
And yes we suspect the right sill may also be used for nut storage, but at this stage is rust free.
Pity it wasnt rolls of American bank notes !

Way back in May 2019 I was looking for something similar to the car on the on the wall at my old Miro st premises, and after much hunting I found and purchased the fibreglass rear end of a 1959 Cadillac .
As soon as I had it here at the workshop I immediately thought of the "Cadillac Ranch" in Texas (google the images and you get the idea) .
The fibreglass body was in need of a little attention , but with a bit of work a good blocking back and a coat of paint it now looks fantastic!
Big thank to Rick Procter who built an awesome frame for it to perch on, while having to put up with me fussing over the angles etc.
If you get a chance, drive by when dark and check it out when lit up !

Everyone enjoyed the show .......... that was until Dean went to leave.
You guessed it! he couldn't help himself, once again he had to prove that he owned the biggest badest car around by doing a huge 1/18th scale burnout/skid.
This of course did not go down well with the law-abiding citizens, nor the Police who caught up with and ticketed him for reckless driving.
What will happen to Dean now? I honestly don't know, as sadly this is where my tiny story has to end! But hope you have enjoyed it!
