Race Report - test and tune MMP.
One word - s**t. I went over Friday evening with the car, sorted entry and got unloaded. Rained that night, still light rain on and off early morning. Shona couldn’t get over the hill until after noon due to a bad crash that closed the vw road for a few hours, not that it made any difference as it had still been raining on and off until about noon. Watching with interest the first round of super sedan go down on a cold unsprayed track we decided to sit the first round out as there cv were some hairy rides good on. A few hours of sunshine and a spray of the track, things were looking better. Dirty Deeds dragster clocked a 200mph pass, so we figured the track was as good as it was going to get. Lined up in the stage lane all was good, we were motioned to roll into the burnout box and the car stalled. Absolute mongrel to restart, no power and would stall as soon as it was put in gear. Had to limp/push it back to the pits. Get Shona out, have a quick visual- nothing obvious. Ford it up and the damn thing runs mint. Then racing was called for the day.
I spent a bit of time Saturday evening going over the ecu stats and just checking everything was functioning, did a couple of test stages - nothing. All running sweet. Came up with a plan for Sunday in case it happened again.
Woke up Sunday to more rain. And COLD! And intermittent drizzle then sunshine. By about 11, we decided that even if the rain stopped and the track got dried and sprayed it was unlikely to get enough heat in it to do some test 60ft, as we needed 💯 traction for that. So we packed up and headed home about noon. As it turns out the meet was cancelled not long after we left. So - no test runs, no data, no shock adjustments… and a gremlin to sort out. Next meet for the Enchantress is back at MMP early December, with the Burgerfuel cars both at Port Road next weekend.
