Happy Birthday to Graham! 🎉🎂

Today we celebrate not only a milestone birthday, but one of the true legends of Firewood Factory.

Graham has been with us almost since day one — well over five years now — and has become part of the fabric of this place. He’s one of those people who simply makes everything work. Nothing ever phases him; he is always cool, calm and collected, no matter what the day throws at him.

Over the years, Graham must have single-handedly delivered around 20,000 cubic metres of firewood across the Waikato, and the amount of positive feedback we receive from customers about him is incredible. He is the absolute king of the ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reviews, and there’s no doubt many of our customers look forward to seeing Graham pull into the driveway.

Away from deliveries, Graham is equally well known for his generosity with our kids. School holiday delivery runs, lunches out, and of course the famous peppermint lollies handed out as he drives in and out of the yard — these are the little things that make him such a special part of our team.

If you know Graham, you’ll also know his love of fishing, all things seafood, and his ability to have a yarn with absolutely anyone about just about anything!

To recognise his legendary five-star service, the crew surprised him today with a very fitting ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ cake, and tomorrow we’ll all get together for a shared lunch to celebrate properly.

🎉 Congratulations to Kym! 🪵🔥

Kym is the lucky winner of 3 cubic metres of our Kiln Dried Hotmix, valued at $555, which we were proud to donate as the raffle prize in support of the Te Aroha Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Talk about perfect timing! Kym received her load on Monday evening, just as she was running low on firewood, and with this week's cold snap, it couldn't have come at a better time. 🥶❄️

A huge thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets and helped support such a great cause. Community support like this makes a real difference.

What a week! 🥶🔥

With the icy temperatures across the Waikato, demand has gone through the roof.

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who has placed an order with us and for your patience while we work through them.

Behind the scenes, our whole team is putting in some seriously long days to keep up. We've added early evening delivery runs all week, our ute tipper is out helping with deliveries as well, and we'll be making as many deliveries as possible over the weekend to get everyone stocked up.

The good news is we have plenty of dry firewood ready to go – it's simply a matter of getting it delivered as quickly as we can.

We'll continue updating our delivery lead times on the homepage of our website so you always have the most accurate information. At the moment, we're sitting at 4–8 business days (sooner if we can!).

A special thanks has to go to our amazing team. Blair, Graham and Dunc have been putting in the hours on the delivery trucks and, as always, are happy to go the extra mile for our customers. Katie has been flat out on the phones taking orders and enquiries, while Kim has been working tirelessly behind the scenes organising the delivery schedules and keeping everything running as smoothly as possible.

Please know that every single person here is working as hard as we possibly can to get your order delivered as soon as we can. We really do appreciate your patience, understanding and support during what has been one of the busiest weeks we've ever seen.

🔧 Behind the Scenes at Firewood Factory – Project #1

We get asked all the time how we process so much firewood, and what goes on behind the scenes.

The answer is pretty simple... we're always looking for better ways to do things.

We've got plenty of interesting projects happening around the workshop, so we thought we'd start a new Behind the Scenes series and show you some of the practical engineering and workshop builds that help keep Firewood Factory moving.

Anyone who knows us knows we're pretty driven by efficiency, and this project is all about eliminating one of the biggest hold-ups in our production line.

At the moment, about every 45 minutes our processing line has to stop while the tip truck heads away to unload. On top of that, the truck needs to be moved forward three times while it's being filled. It all adds up to wasted time.

The aim is simple - keep the processing line running continuously while also being able to fill a truck without moving it.

This one's been Ben's baby from the start. It all began with a discussion in the staffroom about eight weeks ago. Ben went away, designed the whole thing in CAD, and now it's almost ready to go from an idea to a working machine.

The conveyor will be fully remote controlled, able to pivot left and right, start and stop at the push of a button, and direct product wherever it's needed to keep production flowing.

Here are a few photos from the workshop as it's all come together. The team's pretty excited to have it up and running over the next few weeks.

✨ Staff Appreciation Post #1 – Kim ✨

Behind every load of firewood delivered is a huge amount of planning, communication and organisation, and there's one person who keeps it all running smoothly... Kim.

As many of you know, Firewood Factory is a family-owned and operated business, and at this time of year, especially during the school holidays, the days get incredibly long. While most people are still asleep, Kim is often in the office by 5:00am, coordinating deliveries, replying to messages, managing logistics, updating run sheets, and making sure everything is organised before the trucks even leave the yard. Once dinner is done, it's not unusual for her to head back to the office for a few more hours, getting ahead on the next day's work so she can free up more time for the kids, all while juggling school holiday activities and family life.

Her attention to detail is second to none, and the feedback we receive from customers speaks for itself. Time and time again we hear comments about her exceptional communication, friendly manner, and willingness to go the extra mile. She's always striving to make every customer's experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Despite the pressure that comes with the role, she's always up for a laugh and enjoys plenty of good banter with the crew over smoko.

As the school holidays come to an end, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to say thank you. ❤️

We've teamed up with Massage in Matamata to treat Kim to some well-deserved relaxation. We know she'll appreciate the chance to switch off for a little while after another busy season.

Thank you, Kim, for everything you do. Firewood Factory simply wouldn't be the same without you.
