Follow our 10 tips for driving test success!!
STAY FOCUSED: Don't loose focus by dwelling on the mistakes you have already made. Continue to drive with the best of your ability!
FOLLOW THE SPEED LIMITS: Obey posted speed limits and adjust your speed based on road conditions. Speed limits and temporary speed limits must be followed.
KEEP A SFE FOLLOWING DISTANCE: Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. The general rule is to keep at least a two-second gap to allow for reaction time. a 4 second gap is recommended in wet weather.
USE YOUR INDICATORS: Signal your intentions to other drivers by using your turn signals. Signal left to leave a roundabout, even when going straight! This helps create a predictable and safer driving environment.
CHECK YOUR MIRRORS AND BLINDSPOTS: Check your mirrors before slowing and turning. Add your blindspots before crossing over or changing into lanes travelling the same way as you, to ensure there are no other vehicles in your way.
READ TRAFFIC SIGNS: Follow traffic signs, signals, and road markings. They provide important information and help maintain a smooth flow of traffic.
BE MINDFUL OF WEATHER CONDITIONS: Adjust your driving according to weather conditions. Slow down in rain, snow, or fog, and leave extra space between vehicles.
PEER PRESURE: Stay calm and patient, don't rush. Aggressive drivers behind you, tailgating or weaving in and out of traffic, can lead to accidents. Be aware that they are there in case you need to slow down but your main responsibility is to the traffic ahead of you.
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE: Your examiner will check your car for a current WOF, brakes lights, indicators, horn and tyres to ensure your vehicle is in good working condition. Check them before you go!
Remember, responsible and defensive driving is key to ensuring your safety and the safety of others on the road. Always be aware of your surroundings and look twelve seconds ahead to anticipate potential hazards to make informed decisions while driving.
