Honouring the Legacy of Brian MacDonald
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Brian MacDonald and reflect on the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind. Brian’s vision, determination and entrepreneurial spirit helped shape Fairfax Industries into the company we know today.
When Brian and Bob Dorling acquired Fairfax in 1973, Brian saw opportunities where others saw challenges. Through innovation, hard work and an unwavering belief in the future of fibreglass transport solutions, he transformed Fairfax Industries into a pioneering force within New Zealand’s trailer manufacturing industry. From introducing revolutionary monocoque fibreglass construction to expanding into new markets and products, Brian’s leadership helped establish Fairfax as a trusted and respected name in the industry.
Brian’s success was built on more than innovation alone. He was known for his integrity, strong customer relationships and ability to bring people on board with a vision that was often ahead of its time. Those qualities continue to define Fairfax today.
As we reflect on Brian’s contribution, we are reminded that his legacy lives on in every project we deliver, every relationship we build, and every innovation we pursue. The values he championed, including quality, trust, ingenuity and a willingness to challenge convention, remain at the heart of our business. Today, those principles continue to guide us as we build on the strong foundation Brian created and carry his vision forward into the future.
Thank you, Brian, for your leadership, your pioneering spirit and the lasting impact you have had on Fairfax Industries and our industry as a whole. Your legacy lives on through the company you helped build and the people who continue your vision every day.
